Spinner oil centrifuge installation tutorial on a Detroit. No frame drilling.

* Grainger bolts that connect over the frame are long and durable enough to reach both sides of frame. They are zinc plated, but they will hold near 0 F temperatures and many of them together will secure the centrifuge strong enough to support against rough roads.

* J 49181 tool is most important it keeps the oil port open costs around $80 dollars.

* Metal zip tights are recommended to secure the inlet and outlet hoses from one side of the engine to the other. Keep in mind that oil travels through them and if they get punctured by the fan a catastrophic oil lost will occur. lol.

* DO use PVC glue or liquid Teflon on all joints before connecting and MUST let the glue dry for at least three hours before starting the engine.

* M33x2 is the thread size of the oil port and I can be opened with a 17 mm Allen socket. The oil pan hole is M27x2 not the same size as the port located near the oil filter.

* Zoom in on the pictures and you will notice a gray rubber pieces. These pieces are a cut out of a gym pad purchased at home depot look near the paint isle bottom shelf right side. Remember to protect the Grainger bolts from impacts and to also protect hoses from touching each other using this type of rubber cut outs. When touching each other they have the tendency of bursting fluid.

* Remember to re tighten the Grainger bolts to ensure they remain in torque and also to use nylon nuts to secure every single part of the structure.

* Spinner 2 is expensive. IOWA 80 truck stop website sells it for $800 dollars; however, it can be found and purchased searching Ebay for about half of that price. Some are new or some are used. Also, some International trucks also carry an oil centrifuge, so an international oil centrifuge will also work.

 

update:
* return oil line from spinner back to oil pan must be from the driver side oil drain port. The nearest port closer to the spinner does not allow the oil to drain completely during an oil change. The passenger side oil drain port is designed to completely drain as the lowest point of the pan.

* The images below demonstrate how effective the spinner oil centrifuge is after centrifuging oil for 16,000 miles. Driving conditions include: severe wind, heavy loads and mountain pass driving. The amount of gelatin soot removed from the spinner onto the pan is greater than shown in the picture. In the last picture, the clean section of the spinner is not a reflection is the color of the metal after removing a layer of soot.

Thanks. You're right. It is not necessary. JIC locks tight enough as it is. I decided to use it on the thread only to have the JIC metal to metal pressure plus the Teflon on the thread. I could also picture what you mention someone dipping the JIC into the Teflon jar or brushing the entire joint with it to the point that it makes it into the oil. I wrote use your discretion because I am almost certain someone may not do their own schematic with check list resulting in something deficient.

 

Don't really need one for D60. Locate the oil port near the oil filter and purchase the hoses and fittings. Just knowing about discount hydraulic hose website is a great advantage. It's difficult to find everything in one site alone.

 

Amsoil seems outstanding. The only observation is the need to purchase filters every 12k miles depending on your interval. It would be better than spinner if regular oil filters could fit their mount. I did research and couldn't confirm their size, so I don't know.
