So my girlfriend run’s for me in our truck. I own truck and trailer. Leased on to a company. She wants to start getting paid on top of table. She is paid by the mile. I pay work comp on both of us per lease argree.
Not going to get married. So Could i just 1099 her and she can file a tax return? She needs to start paying into social security and like to buy a new car . So needs a job per say.
    Thanks

    Not legally.
IRS would see her no different than any other employee.

because he is only doing what the lease company requires and nothing else. i maybe wrong. who knows. but most lease 1099's are all about that cash, no taxes or anything else. cash money on hand, just straight cash money

Oh, you pay taxes, you just have to pay it all on the backside and more than likely, based on these posts, you won't have saved enough and will end up owing more than you have in your bank account come tax time.

    Be careful.

Have her prepay to IRS quarterly (l paid $1500 quarterly in advance) or you will get expensive penalties. Then have her get a tax accountant. If you W2 her, you are responsible for half her social security from your gross as well as unemployment insurance. Instead of workmans comp, l used Occupational Accident which covers your medical cost from an on the job injury but does not pay for lost earnings.

    D.Tibbitt and truckdriver31 Thank this.

    Hello
And thanks everyone. So we have a tax account. Maybe better to make her a equal parter?
Always pay our tax’s and maybe go from a sole proprietor to a
    S corp ?
