I pulled the empty trailer on 3 wheels to a shopping mall. Asked if I could leave it there for a few hours and bobtailed to the junkyard.

The other time it happened, I rode back home on the rear axle by removing the front axle wheel

In that type of situation I can understand it completely. It would be no different than running a trailer with a lift axle, basically. But loaded, knowingly missing 2 tires, driving at lawnmower speeds on a major interstate is what had me at a loss of words for the guy in the picture.

Dave, I'm glad you posted it. Don't mind our smart mouths. I, for one, was just having a little fun. It makes me mad to see this kind of stupidity as well. We don't know the complete situation but I'm with you, doesn't sound like he was in a situation where moving on was the right answer.

I see driver's do stupid stuff every day but when it is so obvious to the public and gives us a bad name it does get to me.

This week: One driver (day cab, no radio) cruising along at 75 mph with his blue air line busted and flying around slapping the back of the cab and trailer. Mind you this was a day cab with big rear windows. No way he shouldn't have seen it.

Last night I slept beside a Swift truck that obviously doesn't know his air dryer shouldn't be sounding off every 15 seconds. Of course he idled all night. I had no other choice on parking.

I'm sorry. it was my first load after going solo from my mentor period. My mentor assured me as long as leaned left the whole way I could get the load to the delivery. I was running tight on my HOS time and had to meet the appointment time, too. I mean it was a drop and hook load. (total kidding guys)

He looks loaded, his right front trailer tire is heavily compressed, and left rear looks like it is about to rise off the ground, not likely that he is legal without that wheel.
I thought touching hubs and/or drums to check for temperature was Standard Operating Procedure . . .you can use a glove . I have been known to adjust my own brakes too.

    Dave1837 Thanks this.

I have been driving since 99 too, have never had this happen. What kind of junk are you pulling down the road that you have had this 5 times?

Wouldn't that side of the axle be on the ground unless it was held up with a chain?

I'd say you've gotten pretty lucky then. I suppose if you never worked for any outfit that didn't run brand new trailers and put virgin tires on everything, then yeah, maybe nothing bad would ever happen in 20 years, but most have their share of old and suspiciously maintained stuff that even the most thorough pre-trip won't always catch before it bites you.
