Glad you got yourself a good driver. That's what will make or break a small few trucks operation. I bet he is really pleased with the home schedule too.

My Thread Not Completely Dead
Wow it has been forever since I posted. I was looking through the forums and thought about this thread so decided to post an update here today. Not that anyone cares anymore..lol ..but its cathartic to put things into writing sometimes. So I hired a great driver and and basically dispatched the truck from home and things were going great. My driver decided to move back to the west coast after about a year so I went back to driving when I could and began searching for a new driver... Turns out I got really lucky the first time because all the responses for my ad were drivers that had accidents or tickets...Putting them on my insurance cost so much it was pointless to hire.
My child began having medical issues and I was getting a promotion at my regular job so it became difficult to get out and run loads. The medical issues made it impossible to be away from home so eventually the bills could not be paid so I had to get rid of the truck and trailer.
Once insurance was cut off my authority was suspended and operations ceased. Fast forward to today and I am now 9 months from being able to retire from the fire department and am exploring my options.. It wont take much to reestablish my authority and re start my LLC. So I am looking now to posibly buy another truck and either run Van or Reefer in 2021 sometime. Believe it or not I made good money running a part time schedule around my regular work at the fire department. All the help and information I got here on the forum taught me so much that I know the O/O world quite well.. Plus I have the benefit of receiving a pension as a buffer from having some slow times with freight rates if I start back up. I have some other options by staying with the fire department for up to 5 more years so I have to decide if I stay or go.... Right now the desire to work for myself is far more valuable then staying with the FD but there is more risk in terms of something going wrong and causing financial difficulty when it comes to trucking.
Decisions decisions..... I have some time to work it all out but thats where things are at right now. Ill post updates every once in a while even if its just me checking this thread .Last edited: Mar 10, 2020
