$2,400 for a new 2020 Peterbilt 579 doesn't sound too bad. Especially if the guy doesn't have two nickels to rub together, has FICO score of 350 and is homeless LOL

Yes if you lease to an honest company and work efficiently, you can get title to your truck and have a business track record / commercial credit which is separate from your personal credit. Once you reach this point you can take your career in any direction you choose. l always thought operating on my own authority, booking my own loads would be my idea of success. l found it led to 7 days a week, no time off. Billing and collection were a headache with some companies very slow pay (government freight took 90 days). l was happier leased to a big company (not a mega). My last 6 years were some of the most enjoyable and profitability. l think elog is counter productive and adversely affects your profit. My friends still trucking say l picked the perfect time to retire (2009)

Met a young guy today. 9 mos experience driving with SWIFT.

He's on his way to signing on as an "owner operator" under Gullick Trucking's authority, lease "purchasing" one of their used Volvos over 2 grand a month.
