So I have a interview for the us foods here in Buffalo next week. And I'm a heavier guy I've always have been but when I was younger I was athletic. Basically got hurt at my last food service job (bakemark) and gained all this Weight. Do you guys think I'll be able to handle it? I know I'll drop weight immediately once I get going. Just curious if anyone else went into food service heavy. I'm over 400lbs....

Well the last orientation I was at decades ago the manager eased me out, patted my head and told me to run along now, let the men work. There were 40+ 6 foot 5 big boys tipping close to 350 in muscle. I was like 135 that year.

I was able to continue the type of OTR loads that involved loading to and loading off the trailer floor twice a day for a while in meats, butter and other sundry loads upwards of 49000 pounds. If you are careful with the output of power and not take in too many calories you will begin to lose weight. Work is a really good physical way to get that off you in its own time.

In some ways it's good to be 400 pounds teddy bear, some of those cold storages are like down to -20 inside and the bigger you are the happier you would be in there.

Thanks lmao. I do love the cold. I guess I'm just nervous of them making that first impression "oh he's fat, he isn't gonna last long". I worked at Pepsi and the. Bakemark. I just been hurt since last April. Just need to get back into the swing of things. I wish I was 6'5 I'm like 5'10 former powerlifter ha

Just walk in there confident and do the job. Gonna be tuff at first but stick to it. I used to weigh 350 and lifted weights since I was 17. But even at that fat weight I was in pretty decent shape and had the confidence. Dont worry bout what they might think. And I wasn't 17 when I weighed 350, I was 62. Walk in like a boss!!!

Thanks everyone for the support. I really appreciate it. Does anyone know if they have a pension or anything. I know here in Buffalo their teamsters. And the pay starts at $21.88 an hour

A very long time ago at the state school, we had one who grew up by 18. A mixed indian american. No implication about his origins at all. He was a big boy. Some of the kids thought he was too heavy to fight well. So they picked me to take him on. (Ugh...) one day we had a converstation that was very good prior for about a hour an once we understood each other went up to put on a show for the others.

He did well. Really dangerous too. I was fast in those days but once he gets a hold of that neck and squeezes thats lights out. It was a fair fight so they left him alone from then on. Something that was not a normal situation because there were many who needed to learn that it did not matter what God made you or where you were from. And that got sorted really well.

I have not seen him in a very long time, he had a brain to match and it was good. But.. some people at that young age did not know. Maybe I shove them towards him to learn instead next time. That boy can hit. (Its good I could take it... then.. ugh.)

Maybe later after chores I can set and tell of two Georgia boys. Lumpers. 60 each dollars. Load of cider. 50,000 pounds in one gallon glass bottles by the case floor to ceiling from winchester. (White house)

When they both walked onto the trailer gate, the airride depressed under them (Tractor was running) and stayed depressed. I don't know what they were together but half a ton would not be far off.

That seems low to me, is it ramp work or lift gate?

I think anyone can get into shape for this job but that's a lot of weight to be hustling around.

Like I said I was in shape. Was in football shape at Pepsi. I was around 285-300. And I had stamina and strength. But with this past years back injury and stuff. Its been rough. And part of me feels like I should do this to prove to myself that I can. Cause I know all the drivers will be laughing at me and taking bets to when I will quit.
