    Not sure what you are saying. The lane width on the ohio pike is the same as most 4 lane roads.

    Open your mind for a bit. :)

    Notice the first picture in post #2713. Now notice the location of the tar strip.

    Here in Maryland, between Baltimore and Annapolis, WAY back in the Great Depression era, they wanted a highway built to replace the old two lane, along a straight line.

    Fast forward to today. That highway is now known as Ritchie Hwy aka MD rte 2.

    I run down through there every day, and the second lane has the same tar strip. That road was built with 10 foot lanes back in 1931.
