Very interesting. Never seen any of those down here. Are they oilfield or mining related? Did you catch the company name on tractors? That would be a good clue.
What are these trailers?

I used to see them parked at Penske's Perrysburg Ohio location. They were often hooked to Penske Freightshaker daycabs that were stretched out a little and had a pusher axle with 1 normal tire per side mounted in front of first drive axle and behind fuel tanks. It was liftable. Just three normal lines between cab and trailer so I don't think they were walking floors. I asked a mechanic about them. He said the side doors were there to access different parts of the trailer for cleaning. He didn't know much more. The only thing I can figure is they were hauling some heavy differing grades of material or scrap and had internal partitions as there do seem to be controls on the bottom rail of the trailers, kind of like some recycling trucks where the interior is partitioned for different material so they can dump plastic in one area, glass another, cardboard another, etc. he said he thought they hauled scrap for auto plants. I used to see them in I-75 and the Ohio toll road all the time

Penske designed them as coil haulers for auto plants. Doors open for tie down/ securing coils. Been using them a few years now.
Toyota in Georgetown Ky gets a steady stream of them daily.spsauerland, D.Tibbitt, gentleroger and 3 others Thank this. -
Look at how the rear door is closed with threaded locks.
Unless they haul coils one way and bulk loads on the return.650cat425 Thanks this.
