I use the Crosby (Lebus) L-140 binders, WD-40 on the threads and keep them closed as much as possible. each load you can kind of guess how many threads it takes to tighten and keep as little thread exposed as possible when in use. I also cut small 3-4" lengths of bicycle inner tube and slide them over the handle to cover the ratchet mechanism to keep crud out of them. that is the biggest trouble spot for me, when they fill full of salt/sand/dirt and you have to hammer the lever to switch back and forth.

Yep i bought a small little hammer just for that use . They sure can be a pain sometimes especially since i am not using chains every load . Maybe once every couple weeks

I get guys I'm hauling for want to help and unchain the load, flipper is stuck and they try banging on the lever with their hands and end up hurting themselves. then look at me like I did it to them. dummies

I was wondering what flatbedders thought of that stuff. One day at work I was looking for something to use on my pallet jack that actually lasts longer than a day, and one of the mechanics handed me a can.

I think that stuff is actually made for forklifts and similar equipment. I have never had any luck with it on my binders

I filled them with 5th wheel grease and screw them in all the way ( keep them all the way in will prevent getting water salt dirt ) , only unscrew when using them

No way to much work! Ha I use mine everyday so that would be time consuming, plus I don’t have the patience for such things.
