Basicly it would be items contacted to or by FEMA more than likely. Back for 9/11 We hauled Red Cross supplies and the BOL stated very clear HOS EXEMPT in Big Red Letters

 

We hauled medicines the morning of 911 to NYC on a warfooting but due to local challenges in their efforts to not get attacked along the way it took a little time to reach NYC. Toll all the way across pricing be ######.

Earlier in life we had a town destroyed by tornados and FEMA signed local trucks spent months dumping most of it into a landfill. No HOS for them. (For me it was a missed oppertunity, 15.00 a hour until you cannot see at night anymore.) However I had other local work pouring out of the ready mix into various places being replaced like the school FEMA bunker, post offices in two locations and so on for rebuilding after the storm destroyed everything.

Thats one of the reasons I feel at home here. You put in the work and its yours. In Maryland we could not be bothered to do a #### thing. SO there is a difference.

HOS Exempt on bills and instructions from your company specifically. In that environment you get whatever it is on that truck there asap. You don't sleep, eat, stop or anything. Straight through. Then take care of yourself and the truck fast because they are waiting on you with the next one.

Do stop and rest when that white line fever kicks in. You do not want to kill people out there.

 

I'm expecting the food plants to be a mad house for awhile. With everybody out of food to sell.

And other commodities.

 

Wrong...there is no fema involvement to restock all stores in all 50 states. Read the declaration. It's very different from natural disasters. It clearly states no documentation will be required to determine emergency or exemption of hos. However, it says be prepared to explain why your load(product) is exempt to dot officer. So load of twizzlers.. .prob not. Load of gen grocery or produce??? An argument could be made for those items. As well as meat. Just remeber this exemption is way different from hurricanes or tornadoe exemptions. That's why it's in all 50 states.

 

Totally agree....it's going to be a domino effect. Longer wait times at shipper and receiver. Resulting in truck shortage.

 

Well those gray area rules and dot dont mix very well. I could see alot of log violations coming from this . Especially if they are leaving te judgment up to a dot officer

 

Absolutely agree....So clarification will be needed obviously.

 

Just drive like normal, it’s plenty already.
