A trucker’s dash cam was rolling when a careless motorist nearly caused a head-on crash.

An exageration on the part of the driver
The driver claims it was inches. Yes it was a very poor pass. Yet I would have said it was feet in distance.
Here in Maine we get more than that from bad drivers.

 

And that’s one of the reasons I taught my trainees to always pay attention to the vehicles behind you in two-lane roads. If you won’t help them pass you, they’ll get impatient and do stupid moves. Whenever you spot a good opportunity for them to pass you, move a little bit to the right side of your lane, and then blink your lights (or turn them off/on).

Some states like WA have laws where if you are holding down the traffic (in two-lane roads) to more than 5 vehicles or so, you need to pull over and let the traffic flow.

 

I'll bet dollars to donuts the driver didn't get a scare, probably did see it, figured he could make it, figured it was worth the risk, and would do it again if given the opportunity.

Because, you know, heaven forbid they get delayed by a few seconds.

Lol. 90 seconds later at the end of the video the Tahoe is right in front of the truck in slow traffic.
All of that risk and gained NOTHING but the satisfaction of being in front of one more.

It's a mentality. They don't stop to think about what COULD happen, or who else it may affect for a lifetime.

 

Most of the two lane highways in West Virginia have little or no shoulder to work with so other than reducing speed there’s not much the truck could’ve done. Either way, the Tahoe driver almost met his or her maker,and also almost took someone else with them!

 

The truck driver panicked and took too long to brake. I wouldn’t blame the truck driver at all if this had turned into an accident, but sometimes the driver can help avoid accidents if they act correctly and quickly.
