Am I a bad person for faking a cough while waiting for my BOL?

I had an intermittent cough before this thing started. So on the first day SHTF I was in line getting coffee and I felt a familiar tickle in my throat. After the cough I realized I was the only person in line. Heh.

Well if I get pulled into a weigh station for an inspection or hassled by dot I will definitely be coofing. This is no time to be messing with us drivers. They are lucky we are still driving

 

That isn't helping either. Belligerence and bullying is not well received under any circumstances. As for crossing a scale a little on the heavy side I'd warm up my trailer brakes just enough to produce some visible smoke as I rolled my steer axle on to the scale. That along with my 1203 placards would get me a green light, and a get that truck off my scale every time.

 

Would fake coughing be belligerently bullying the dot officer who is belligerently bullying me?

 

Yeah, that can be a two way street for sure. My advice would be to take the high road, if you can. Sometimes it's hard.

I closed my comment with "do your best." If provoked a truck driver, like any working man just might serve up a knuckle sandwich in reply. It happens.

Just try to make sure it's well deserved when it gets to that point. If so, you just might keep your job. Most likely not because brawling with the man is nearly always a bad idea.
