I agree that it “could” be more than just a recession. I don’t “think” it will, but I don’t really know and neither does anyone else for certain. What I do know for certain is that for the last 100 years if you will look at 5 years or better periods the stock market I.E. investing in America’s best and biggest businesses, you would have made money. Are we in for some period of a slow down? I think we absolutely are and a lot of people “could” experience a lot of hardship. Five years from now those who are fortunate enough to keep their jobs/businesses and be able to keep investing will still be ok. My opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
*Side note I am personally down 25% from my all time highs but I am still sending Wall Street money every Monday.*

 

Don't get me wrong, I totally agree. But this is going to be hard for a lot of people and for a pretty significant amount of time it looks like.

 

I believe we are thinking along the same lines. I really hope it isn’t long lasting, but very well could be. I am anxiously waiting for Warren Buffett to make his next major purchase. Berkshire Hathaway has been hoarding cash for some time waiting for The market to cool. I don’t think they quite expected this much of a downturn. When he does make the next big purchase I would bet we are very near the bottom. Not that Warren can perfectly predict the bottom, but he does have a good sense about market indicators.
