'08 T660, the (latest) problem I'm having is with the fuel tanks. Specifically with the caps. The driver's side cap doesn't tighten, just kinda spins around, and leaks fuel onto the tank. I've looked at the threads and they seem to just be worn out from 11yrs of grit in the threads and 16mos of my obsessive need to tighten them as much as possible.

New tanks are $600/each (might as well replace both) but I was wondering if I could replace the stock KW with PB tanks (800/each[?]). My reasoning for doing so is PB doesnt have threads, just positive open/shut locking 'teeth'. There's a 1.5" difference in diameter, but I dont think that would be a problem. I'm just wondering about the siphon/return/sending unit flange and whether they are compatible.

    Thoughts?

Isn’t there a collar and cap setup that solves this problem? I’ve seen it, somewhere.

Tried searching for it and couldn’t find it.

That setup costs almost as much as new tanks....LoL About half, actually. Since it twists on, set screws notwithstanding, I'm not sure how well it will actually work.

"It's always sumptin'", I'd try a truck salvage yard. With all the crashes, gotta be some decent used tanks.

On a positive note, I changed my fan belt from Gates to Paccar and the squealing has stopped. IMO $90 was cheap because I haven't any hair to pull out.

FD90FD21-68E4-4009-9BB5-AD9AFED4B292.png What about something like this? I had the same problem with my oil filler cap on my N14, and replace the screw on cap with something like this.

You might be able to use a ball pein hammer and gently go around the filler neck tapping it outwards to expand it.
Sending unit will have to be swapped to the pete one due to the diameter difference. Should plug in and work ok. Suction and return will be fine or may need adapters worst case.

Not sure if your straps will be able to tighten down on the tanks. 1.5 diameter difference is alot of circumference.

    PB is 1.5" larger.
Might try tapping the neck, thanks.

Not after seeing the worn threads on the tank. I might try swapping sides, though.
