Got pulled around back of a scale house to be told "someone else" at my company had been blowing scales and not reporting tickets.

Got that solved REAL quick. DOT actually complimented me on being a cool cucumber about it.

Why get heated? I'm not the one that did it.

Oh yeah, we fired that other guy.

The state I'm in, and my neighboring states seem to be running the coops in full force these last couple weeks... In fact, a co-worker was pulled in for an inspection and asked to remain inside the vehicle due to coronavirus concerns...
The whole thing that chaps me, is that trucks are in demand now, more than ever with all of the panic at the markets.
You would think that the DOT would be a little more forgiving under the circumstances, but instead it appears that they are trying to capitalize on the situation.... Just my take!

Had something like that happen to me years ago in VA. After scaling, I was told to pull in and bring my paperwork for a level 3 inspection. The officer accused me of having gotten a ticket and not paying it. To his surprise after looking at my CDL, he realized it wasn’t me. Inside my head, I was like, this guy’s a fool. There are about 2,500 drivers at Stevens. Hahaha. The officer forced me to stay until I paid the ticket. I called my company, and they paid for it. Strange experience.

This would be a good time to carry a firearm or contraband in your truck. Doubtful the DOT will be doing many or any in cab inspections. I wouldn't if I were them.

DOT has nothing to do with carrying a firearm, old issue, not illegal as far as DOT, Check your companies policies. As far as legal, its legal.

You run into a series of problems with firearms in cab.

Maryland for example requires a non resident may issue carry license to possess a gun on you.

Jersey, NY etc has explict bans on magazine count, ammunition types. I am not legal there in any way, magazine, ammunition and type of weapon model and they do not honor my Arkansas Carry License, of which there are two tiers common carry and enhanced. The enhanced allows me to carry into the State Capitol Building even if the lawmakers are in session against active shooters for example. Im already IDF trained but I have to follow ASP protocol for Enhanced here.

Trucking, employer will ban guns unless you are the employer of yourself and so forth and so on. A can of worms best discussed already in existing threads here on TTR.

Also if you are a gun carrier, you want USCCA Insurance. So if you do get arrested (They cover all violence, gun, knife and barehand, shoving, assault etc and cover bail and court etc) and provides up to date information on the entire USA about whats good or not good.

In addition if you did have a gun, you cannot be on federal property I think title 9 its 2500 fine, a year in jail mandatory and a few other painful and destructive penalties. These are automatic if you are caught with a gun in any situation on Uncle Sam's land such as the VA parking lot.
