Here is a copy of an email I sent to husky customer service.

This email is in regards to your actions taken concerning the coronavirus situation and your restaurants. While I understand having to abide by government mandates of closing restaurants, you are still able to provide take out service. Why the reduced hours? Truckers certainly aren’t working reduced hours. In particular, your Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario location. Hours for take out are noon till 8pm. Do you think truckers don’t start their day till noon? What is one to do for breakfast? Starve? Drive hungry? While we are out here continuing to do our job so that the public, and very likely whoever is reading this email, can have their food, toilet paper, alcohol, baby food.....etc etc, we go without? What’s next? Closing of restrooms? Showers? While your company emblem may be a dog, I for one certainly don’t appreciate being treated like one. In fact, I’m almost positive it was us, truckers, that the Husky business was founded on. Sadly, I know very well this will fall on deaf ears, or excuses given of reduced hours to limit our employees exposure etc etc......what about our well being? Our ability to do our job to supply you with your needs. Apparently that has fallen by the wayside, well before this virus outbreak.

It's a bit of a beetch for sure. Doubtful of you receiving a response. Old news now about Esso/Imperial Oil taking over this retail stuff from Husky. Contractors operate these restaurants and no one wants it anymore. Either way, in this country there is hardly a decent meal to be had where you can also fuel up.
Hope BC at one time had a great operator and a good hot meal at the Husky. Last had a great breakfast there in April 2014 and the waitress said it was shutting down. Now an Esso cardlock. BTW there is a FnJ down the road with a gourmet Subway :( Was by the Husky in Osoyoos last week and found the restaurant windows papered over. What next, a cardlock there too?

Pretty hard to pack food when we’re legally not allowed to cross the border with meat, fruits or vegetables.

Just buy what you need when you get there. After all the Canadian peso is worth a whole .69 US. Truckers make lots of money;)

Dun dat, over and over. Three day old sandwiches for breakfast, yummy. Heat water with 12V, make coffee, cup noodles, etc. Microwave meals from the good chef at home, sure. But every now and then a nice omelet with some cheese over it and toast, or real mashed potato's and gravy hit the spot. Hot calories in January and an environment besides the inside of a truck, can go a long way to improving life on the road.
If I can't afford a hot bowl of soup and a lunch special, like they offer at the Oak Point Restaurant on
Oak Point Hwy. North Winnipeg, she's time to quit. Great hot food, cheap lunch specials and a friendly family running it. Let's hope they survive for a long time.

Yeah it sucks. CBP doesn’t even ask about food anymore. I take food daily with me. But for otr drivers, I get you want a meal and to get out of the truck.

That was my only reason for posting this. Everyone is different. Some guys like packing the truck up with food for the week. Showering every couple days. Me? I wanna get outta the truck. Have a meal. If you can’t afford to do that then what’s the point?? I’m also a guy who HAS to shower every morning. And I try to plan my stops accordingly. Just who I am.
