I read through the PDF, but really not sure which bullet point of transportation would cover potential car haulers.

• Employees who repair and maintain vehicles, aircraft, rail equipment, marine vessels, and the equipment and infrastructure that enables operations that encompass movement of cargo and passengers
My logic being that automobiles are infrastructure that enables movement of passengers. Now I am not a lawyer, but the essential need for motor vehicles is how I would argue it. That said, I have a hard time saying auction and new car transport is essential, towing of disabled and wrecked vehicles to clear the highway yes, other wholesale work not so much -especially with most of the auctions closed or sales postponed. -
The auctions here are a massive cluster F right now. Hours are significantly reduced 9-4 only, no customer service. Adesa pulled the keys out of every unit onsite, must have gate pass, will not print at guard shack, walk out find your car get the 4digit key number, walk back to Security get key, walk back to car and hope like hell the battery is charged drive out. Ive heard Manheim is similar but i havent been there.
I personally cant see how a car hauler is classified an essential business and would love to find the actual language the deems it as such because while this doc is okay one has to stretch things to justify car hauling being an essential biz.
Yes people need cars but unless you can show how your making 9 or 5 or 1 delivery of a POV I dont see how you get to essential. -
Half the cars in Adesa under certain areas (*Dealer) will not be drivable anyway. Not without charging or fresh batteries, other fluids and so on. Some have no brakes and cannot be moved safely.
The keys situation alone would be a nightmare. Ours in Little Rock has about a little over 1000 each week that needs to be parked by thursday auction.clausland Thanks this. -
Someone posted on TTR somewhere a picture of toilet paper strapped on a flatbed. Throw a 4 pack on the head rack , strap it down , put it on the BOL and roll.

What I saw Monday and yesterday was:
Ranch dressing- 10 pallets
Styrofoam trays for meat packing-stacked on top of dressing
Cardboard boxes for misc. packing
Chairs for Cardinals training facility
Glass panes-12 small pallets
Rolls of fabric
10 pallets of bagged silica sand
All these drivers are Eastern European, some team and some solo-some speak very little English.
The one guy I talked to said he left Rochester Sat. morning and arrived on Phx. Sun. night. They all run brand new Volvo's and just turn off the e-logs.
Gotta have my ranch dressing!brian991219 and Doealex Thank this. -
One of my big suppliers is back open in Fontana, they said they had to reopen bc their customers were screaming for their orders.
So, my customers in Phx. are putting together their orders for me to go back and resume my normal schedule next week. -
It's why the service sections are open but the sales sections are not at dealerships.Sirscrapntruckalot and Tb0n3 Thank this. -
Texas_hwy_287, Snailexpress, Sirscrapntruckalot and 2 others Thank this.

This is exactly why a major carrier such as the one I am leased to would have someone who is an attorney interpret the FMCSA’s exemption letter. They wouldn’t distribute a letter to roughly 1000 drivers and owner ops explaining the exemption without being confident the exemption applies to us. Just knowing firsthand how dedicated they are about following safety and the law I can confidently make this statement.
