I used a cpap for 4 years. I’ve lost a lot of weight and no longer use it. How do I get cleared as far as dot exams go? I was just planning on not putting it in there next time I get an exam, but legally, what kind of hoops do I need to jump through to no longer be required to use a cpap.
CPAP, sleep apnea - no more. How do I cleared from dot exam perspective?

Just bring in your sleep study results or documentation from your Pulmonologist, that shows that you do not have sleep apnea anymore.
You should be good to go.truckdriver31 Thanks this. -

Went from 300 lbs to 220 in a year (6 ft). Still on the path of losing more weight, of course.
Used the cpap religiously this whole time. About a month ago, I decided to try sleeping without it. No headaches when I wake up, no snoring, sleeping through the night, feel fully rested and not drowsy during the day (all my previous symptoms). So yes, I’m “assuming“ I no longer need it.truckdriver31, rachi and Eddiec Thank this. -
You should probably do a sleep study since even thin people and children can have sleep apnea.

Plus, dot examiner is gonna want a print out of my usage when I do the exam, so I’m going to have to use it I guess.
Ive heard of those home studies. Guess I could look into that. Going to the pulmonologist and scheduling a sleep study an making sure I’m home to sleep in the clinic is just a pain in the butt.truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
