I agree Boomers had it easier except that pesky war in SE Asia. My dad and uncle made it back, but many didn’t and many had no choice. So there’s that

Boomers also used money that was worth something, 1971 took the U.S. Dollar off the gold standard, since then it's not money. It's just currency. Its only value is in its use, on its own it's monopoly money. You can't just save and stack up a retirement and eat on it, might as well stack up toilet paper. You have to continue to be a participant in the market for your savings to be worth anything, to where they aren't just numbers in an account, they represent having skin in the game. Most people still operate with the mind that a dollar is worth a dollar. A dollar is only worth what a dollar is worth, today. One goat is always worth one goat, a dollar is just toilet paper, weather it's a stack in hand or digital in the bank.

You can be highly contagious for 6 days straight and show zero symptoms, in the meantime you've transferred it to 15 people...

I know one thing, it'll be a cold ####ing day in hell before I spend another nickel on a brand new product that came from China. I'll cook coffee in my boot over an open fire... Those ####ers aren't getting any more of my money.

    OH My God Thank You!!!

Finally someone spelled it out clearly!

Fellow Gen X'er here. We truly are the new Lost Generation. Never had a chance to make a mark, got crapped on all our lives, and now we get to pay the consequences.

Yeah, just keep kicking that can down the road (Congressional phrasing in dealing with the deficit during the wild Eighties). Till someone kicks it back into our laps.

Too bad people didn't have that same attitude 30 years ago.

We'd probably still have a strong manufacturing sector HERE, shorter supply lines HERE, and a stronger economy HERE!

But Chinese crap is soooo cheap to buy!

(And so cheaply made it lasts less than a quarter of the time of old AMERICAN made products of the same type).

Example: My Mother has an iron. A clothes iron. Has steam, and all the settings found on any clothes iron found in Wallyworld or Target. She bought the blasted thing in 196-frikkin'-2! And it still works frikkin' perfectly! I'll most likely inherit the bloody thing and will it unto my grand-niece! It's almost SIXTY FREAKING YEARS OLD! As in older than I am. And still works!

See of those cheap crap Chinese irons hold up as well.

Another example: buddy of mine's dad has an old coffee percolator. One of those ones cowboys used to use by the campfire. He uses it out camping and fishing. Keeps it real clean. Stamped "Made in the York, PA 1897" on the bottom. Over ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD! And makes a damed nice cup of coffee, to boot!

Screw that chinese made crap, screw the chinese economy, and screw the when "cheaper is better" mentality! BRING BACK AMERICAN MANUFACTURING!!

Good luck with that. Is there anything that's made that doesn't have parts made in China? You may get away with some hand tools, but even then the packaging likely comes from China. Either the raw plastic or even empty blister packs....
And yes, I'm being serious. Is there anything made that doesn't have at least one thing coming from China? Either in the park or packaging.

Even food, a good bit of the packaging comes from China.

I have been home for two weeks now.
Just can’t believe how many truck drivers are still working and risking their health for cheap freight

    That's probably not factual.

Study claiming new coronavirus can be transmitted by people without symptoms was flawed

    https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020...navirus-wrong#

    Quote:
    Person-to-person spread
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
    • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
    • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
Can someone spread the virus without being sick?
    • People are thought to be most contagious when they are most symptomatic (the sickest).
    • Some spread might be possible before people show symptoms; there have been reports of this occurring with this new coronavirus, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.
