I am over in the Carolinas and our freight corridor kinda cuts diagonal into Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana. So far we haven't been impacted yet. We've had a handful of customers shut down for precautionary reasons. Many of those have since reopened. All the current closures aren't enough yet to make a huge difference.

We'll see how it goes. I think we haven't been impacted as bad because the virus hasn't fully made its way into our area yet. Guessing two weeks or so and us bottom guys will be back to being laid off. Doesn't even bother me since I am in a really good position financially and would rather just be at home to ride this out.

Bottom of the board city or linehaul with any LTL outfit is always a risk. Don't sweat it too bad though, try to tough it out if it does slow for you and hang in there. LTL is a good gig and Pyle has a good reputation. Don't panic if things do slow for you. You will thank yourself in a few years when you get some seniority. Wish I could offer specific advice to you about your specific situation.

    1) Still managed to pickup 7,500 lbs of brochures today. However, our outbound is beginning dry up in general and compared to just yesterday.

i like to be conservative rather than too optimistic when it comes to finances/money (as if i'm qualified to give anyone financial advice....see below...). i think it's safe to say we're hosed until we're actually hosed. But we ARE going to get hosed.

All this because some big dummy wanted to have bat soup----or so the story we've been told........

But not as big a dummy as me-----financing a car with no safety net.......

    When you gamble........you eventually lose.

One other thing I will point out, if it were not for all this silliness over this stupid flu virus, I would tell you no worries. The economy was going gangbusters and LTL generally picks up at this time of year anyways. Last year at this time I would've said "no worries". The only reason there was a hint of caution in my other reply is based completely on the insipid and draconian measures laid out by some government entities. This is not an attempt to turn things political, just pointing out how LTL generally runs.

Line haul does men different things at different LTL's. As an example, I work for R&L. Unless you're a team or a solo system driver, our runs are all out and back, either meeting at a slip point to swap boxes or turning a terminal. Some outfits "bag out" where linehaul goes out for several days and stays at motels. Others go to another terminal and work the dock, like XPO. I'm not sure about Pyle, you'll have to ask them.

For what it's worth, we're still running pretty normally. You might luck out depending on location and stay busy if you have some senior guys take some time off. We will do that once in a while, take a company convenience day to keep some junior guys from getting laid off. You won't regret it if you can stick it out, what is your trucking experience like now ?
