Yes, those Japanese Clog shoes are perfect for flatbed drivers.

I have a pair of those I bought in Rotterdam, Holland.
I've moved around so much they probably are lost by now or in a box somewhere.
A bunch of drunk sailors on the ship wore them back to the ship in their dress blue cracker-jack uniforms.

Alloy toed Dewalt sneakers with high arch support. Best $100 I ever spent on footwear. If only they made something similar with velco straps. Laces are for the birds. Drive and shower in generic crocs. Never at the customer though,

Steel toes all the time. I drag everything into the truck, sometimes I could probably get a corn crop going. Don't worry, it isnt mud. Its usually cattle manure.

Difference is, I use dog mats on top of my floor mats, on top of my carpet. Whatever doesnt knock off gets washed off in 2 minutes at the truck wash. Plus, a good thing I don't sleep in my truck because some days it gets pretty ripe. :) At least my feet and ankles are protected.

I am partial to hiking boots. In the summer I will probably go with some hiking shoes.

    Work boots.

They're required by nearly all our customers, anyway.

And yes, I do track a lot of dirt into the cab with them, but I sweep a lot.

I also take them off before I go in the "house" (sleeper).

It took 5 posts to get to the first flip flop joke? Unbelievable!

I wear flip flops driving when it's hot. Most of the year I wear Crocs. Super comfortable and look like a shoe in a pinch. I do not go in to customer locations wearing anything but real shoes which I keep beside the seat.

    truckdriver31 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

flip flops if i'm just driving, steel toes at customers. also flip flops at truck stops if i'm just hot fueling. i'll volunarially be 'that guy', i'm here to make you feel better about yourself and get diesel schmoo all over my pant cuffs. I'm comfy, not trying to impress the guild, I claim meat sack status until i show up at the refinery and put on the nomex, then it's game face. the other 95% of the week is sitting there and coming up with techniques and reasons to stay mentally above water :bounce:
