You might have had it. You might not. You might even still have it. Without a test, no way of knowing.

Still have the regular flu out there, seasonal allergies, and the good old common cold. Could be recovering from one of those and still due to catch the covid. Or get reinfected. Who knows?

Nobody can afford to shut down on a maybe, since we're essential, so yeah, this is going to turn into a real cluster. Sailors and truckers, the original disease vectors. Whee.

Driver could have it and not even know. Then get over it just like another cold drivers get on the road. We have an immune system that works. So it not every person getting will need to go to hospital. Truck driving is probably a good example because I would not be surprised if driver have it. The effect is so small they don't even know. Because most drivers are basically told to keep driving. Driver don't usually call in a sick day unless it really bad.

I guess you'll know for sure of having the virus, if you have to shut down and go to a hospital. Worse give it to a loved one and they die.

I am lucky, I can afford to not take a chance of spreading the virus. Thus shut down. Could never live with the guilt of having spread this virus to the vulnerable.

Thing is most of us truckers keep trucking for as long as we can physically. Could be under the early stages and we’ll keep trucking it’s until we can’t get out of bed anymore that we won’t and that point you’re calling an ambulance not sitting at the truckstop diner talking about how sick you feel.

Why do people keep saying stuff like if you might have the virus and you don't self quarantine for 14 day you will be responsible for someone dieing. We drive cars and truck everyday and people die because someone makes a mistake. Yet we all keep driving every day. Every year 34,000 people will die in traffic accident. We could stop most of those deaths but people don't want to change how they drive or slow down.

Let see how many truck drives self quarantine in the truck stop for 14 days

For the most part what you say is true. Testing is everything. And the new antibody test will be even more important, because it will tell folks that they have had the virus already. Why is this important? Because so far, the numbers, professionals, say and show that you will not get reinfected, at least this season. Some say, never again. Otherwise China would be doomed and so would the rest of the world with a continuous recycling of the virus.

Then If you had it, shown in test, you could return to work and not worry so much about other melodies out there or passing it to others.

Nobody can afford to kill others, economics comes second. There is going to have to be a certain percentage of people over time that catch this virus and resolve it, before it is no longer a threat to the vulnerable. But right now in the first wave, we need to flatten the curve and give those who do become severely sick, a chance, with the upmost care possible. Otherwise the death rate will become much higher in this first wave, if we overwhelm the medical system.

If it was me and I was in a high risk category, I would think long and hard about being on the road risking exposure. I don't care how much you think you can self isolate in a truck, you still need to interact with others and worse, the environment, to do your job. The longer you can hold out with getting infected, the better chance you will have of getting the best medical care or eventually, a remedy.
