If you come up to a weigh station and the ramp is full, what do you do? What is procedure?

If the sign says "OPEN" you wait in line. If it says "CLOSED" or "BYPASS" you keep driving and stick your middle finger up as you go by

Why would you not PARK on the interstate to get into a Weigh Station?

Generally you always bypass a weigh station when the ramp is full.

Years ago, backed up onto the highway was considered a free pass. It was a safety issue. Matter of fact, the Badger scale on 94, we used to turn our lights off, sit on the ramp, and wait for the trucks to back up onto the road, drivers on the CB, "Smokey, we're sitting on the road", ( they can hear ya') they'd close the scale, it was like free donuts for truckers next exit. Lot of smoke, very impressive, Kris Kristofferson would've been proud,,,although I don't think the cops thought so,,you know, I kind of miss those days,,, when trucking was exciting!

I would not stop on the interstate because I don't want to get hit. And I would never drive on the shoulder coming up to a full ramp either. If it's backed up onto the travel lanes I keep going. Never had them come after me either.
