If you don’t mind, in the driver door jam, there should be a sticker listing the final drive ratio and the transmission model. Mind taking a pic and posting it?

Tall 22s will give you 7 miles an hour it’s better just to swap the transmission for an RTO overdrive!

    650cat425 Thanks this.

FRO 15210B. I’m seeing that this is a direct drive transmission, not an OD transmission. Even if you run taller rubber, it’s not going to make enough difference in rpm. @larry2903 called it.

What kind of transmission? If it is a 10 speed you may be able to make it an overdrive by turning around the counter shaft in the transmission. Then 10 and 9th would be reversed, 9th where 10th is and 10th where 9th is in the shift pattern. You may also be able to add the overdrive to the 10 speed, but I think that only works with a 9 speed to make it a 13 speed. Overdrive will cost money in fuel milage but it will give you more speed.
The best plan would be to wait until the rear diffs are worn out, then get a 3.08 or 2.74. Then 9th would be your cruising gear and 10th would be for running from the law only.

Take that 10 SPD. And tie a rope round it and throw it in a lake to use for an anchor. Get ya a 13 overdrive. Will work great with those gears to run 75 at a low rpm.......if you have the hp. There is a chart from Eaton that can show you your rpm at a certain speed with different driveline components.

Jumping to 2.64 he will still be about 1750 with the direct drive. A .73 trans will be about 1550rpm

I knew you could swap 9th and 10 on the old days. Wasnt sure if it would still work now or not.. I am going to need a clutch before long so that would be a good time to do the swap if you guys think it wouuld work?
