I don’t know about Florida but around here there is still a lot of room on store shelves.

Limiting the number of items one person could check out at WM or Costco helped tremendously. People don't need to check out so much canned food or rice at one time. Either this or raised price tags. I prefer the former. Prices are quick to raise but slow to go back.
I mean, at the time of obviously extraordinary circumstances.tommymonza Thanks this. -

I went to BJ's on Sunday and they were a lot of bare isles.
There were two boxes of cereal left. There was very little pasta. No rice at all. The cheese aisle was empty. No fresh spinach or lettuce. No frozen veggies. No Jiff peanut butter. Not much chicken. No ice cream or tasty treats. The area for bacon was completely empty.
I suppose by the end of a weekend the store may not have been restocked.
I went to Walmart on Friday afternoon. I went in through the garden section into the automotive section which is right next to it. Not a lot of people.
I figured I would grab some milk and maybe a few small things while I was in there. When I began to walk to the grocery section which is on the other side of the store, they were people everywhere. It looked like they just announced a huge snow storm was coming.
I turned right around and went back out the same way I came in.
The Home Depot next door was jammed with people also.
For a place where people are only supposed to basically come out of their homes for an emergency, and no one is working, there were a hell of a lot of people out and about spending money.tommymonza, PPDCT, SteveScott and 1 other person Thank this. -
It's been fascinating to watch, I won't even lie.tommymonza, SteveScott and Dale thompson Thank this. -
The problem is that it's a snowball effect. People who normally wouldn't hoard decide to wait, and then when they do need things like TP they can't get it and wind up buying more than they need. Went to my local Safeway yesterday and they're still out of a lot including TP and many canned and dry foods. Of course California isn't exactly like the rest of the country.
