This is information specific to YOU and YOU only! You should not, in good conscience, spread information that is only specific to you, to others who are not you and who are not in your situation.

And this is really quite an issue. This is not about "my" or "his" situation. This is about all of us. All of us who drive these effing beasts all day, every day. We deserve, and we should have, coverage that protects us specifically. Truck drivers. Don't just look at yourself and once you figure out you are covered, you say screw the rest.

I don't think people understand how much damage stopping the economy will or could have. Instead, everyone seems worried about their piece of the pie. My trucking company has a guaranteed minimum pay. It's kind of a gimmick because they can only do that if they have freight to haul.

People can't pay their rent because they had to stop working and we run the government the same way. We are now 24 trillion in debt. We may be adding even more to that number. We could not pay the 22 trillion bill just like some people can't pay their rents. We can't just keep printing money because that will make the money worthless. It's just a piece of paper that has value because people think it worth something.

What even happens we are all in this together.

I've got a few problems with this,

1.) your gonna have a hard time finding a hotel open and willing to accommodate someone going into quarantine. Especially if you turn out positive. You might be better off staying in your parked truck. (I guess I have it better than many because I have an assigned unit, but how many trucking outfits will try to repossess a truck occupied by someone who tested positive? Who gets the short straw to clean that unit?)

2.) anyone who can't drive a bobtail into a hospital parking lot probably shouldn't be driving. If we're talking full on medical emergency you drop the trailer and get to the doctor or park anywhere and get an ambulance.

    3.) Change.org? Hmmmmm,

How about instead I just recommended we all donate to the Saint Christopher's fund? That's a charity of record who's goal is and has been to get sick and injured drivers home.

Petition signing doesn't accomplish anything in this context. You could get 300 million signatures and it is nothing but a suggestion for whichever politician wants to put his name in the media. NOBODY anywhere is obligated to DO anything but make an official comment, and that's if someone is petitioning the White House. You might as well ask people to flush their toilets in unison. It might be noticed. It might make you feel like you helped in some way.

And when it's all over and done with they'll tax the living daylights out of us to pay for it.

I think there's a way that petitions actually matter, but it's not this.

Originally the idea was our elected officials could be petitioned to get accountability from the public they serve. If I'm not mistaken the laws are still on the books, but you have to have a massive ground game and it takes time.

1.) you petition the individual congressman
2.) if he doesn't listen you then enlist your local government to get a hold of the guy. (Since party politics are the order of the day the odds of a county exec listening to the people instead of his golf buddy in congress are slim to none.)
3.) you either vote him out next election or you institute a special election recall. This makes overturning a presidential veto look like a rubber stamp by comparison. The laws are there, but I've never heard them used. Maybe leading up to the Civil War.

But this is a theoretical exercise,
Modern politics and voter apathy hold a much larger sway.
