I've had a chance to reflect on this whole Covid-19 situation.
We're all familiar with how Google Maps works, I assume?
You know how you can magnify in on your destination to get a close-up sense of the surroundings? Even though you still might be a long ways from said destination.
After doing so, if you don't hit the "Re-center" button it stays in that magnified view and you can lose the overall "big picture" perspective of where you're going.
I call that becoming "directionally myopic."
Sometimes in our lives crisis hit that cause us to lose perspective. Thus, people start doing things like hoarding toilet paper, food and supplies.
That reaction is predicated upon a base instict to protect yourself and to exercise what appears to be a measure of control.
There are some things in life none of us can ultimately control.
Unfortunately, we do that without consideration of others around us. In doing so, while cruising along in life, we can become so distracted, we miss our turn-off.
At which time, the friendly Google Maps voice says, "Recalculating".
Perhaps through all us this Coronavirus craziness, it will motivate some of us to hit the "Re-center" button.
Perhaps not...Last edited: Mar 31, 2020

I stopped working as of yesterday. Dry van freight here in MI is disappearing quickly due to pretty much everything being shutdown.
BTW, my wife just spoke to one of her best friends, who is a nurse in Dearborn hospital. She says things are actually much worse than media is reporting. They already ran out of medical caps. She is gonna cut her hair short, because from washing it so much, her long hair started to break like crazy. The situation in hospitals is really really bad.
She even offered me one of her five n95 masks if I go back on the road, because if I get sick on the road, it's gonna be very hard to get treatment in hospitalsbigtravelr, Dino soar, Western flyer and 4 others Thank this. -
Don't you have 2 other trucks?Midwest Trucker Thanks this. -
I'm loading down in N. California, a place I frequently reload at. They ship a construction and home related product.
The place is usually teeming with trucks. It's pretty dead comparatively. They're almost done loading me and I got here 30 minutes ago.
I've been monitoring the loadboard for my lane. There's lots of loads still, however, the rates are nowhere near what they were last week.
No one in their right minds expected that to last, including @Midwest Trucker
I'm still at $3.00 a mile on this load, however, I have no illusions about it.
I'll just keep booking one load at a time as the good Lord continues to provide.BoostedTeg, RERM, Western flyer and 3 others Thank this. -
One more thing while I'm at it LOL.
Last week, I turned off the news, TV, radio and even my favorite talk shows.
It's bad for my immune system and clarity of mind right nowLast edited: Mar 31, 2020

Michigan is under emergency declaration, so I should be able to get some of the bailout money, especially since my other business has a physical retail location and was shut down by the Michigan government.
I am not stressing out about finances right now, I should be alright until everyone goes back to work. Then we must see a spike in rates and freight volume for a few monthsmp4694330, Midwest Trucker and Scooter Jones Thank this.
