well you probably are right but i still take the approach i dont own it till it is paid in full.as long as i am making a payment on it(the house) it can be taken from me due to non payment.they cant take a car or house from you if it is paid in full last time i checked.but they can take either of those for defaulting.but its apples and oranges like anything in life.some people take pride some dont some people enjoy working some dont etc etc

i wash the truck while i'm on home time. while out, i only clean my windows, mirrors, tail lights, headlights, and all of the reflective tape. with the previous company, i used to wash the truck while i was out. it never failed to get dirty within 48hrs due to either rain and muddy drop lots, or one of those wonderful mid-summer snowstorms in the higher elevations.

WoW. This argument sounds like something I would hear on 19 in Birmingham at about 8pm. Go to the Big Blue and tell'em to charge Knight if they ask for a P.O# give'em ur truck#. Knight may get upset but they will pay it. 2000 trucks times what (lets say) $35 =70000 how many trucks does Knight have, do the math. Wash it at the terminal when your waiting on a load.

Well I look at it this way. IF you are a professional then you wash your truck and make it look like it is being operated BY a professional. If you are just an employee of some company then just hold that steering wheel. They don't pay you to sit and wait on the truck to get fixed. But you do that don't you.

Now I do agree that if you are getting slip seated (Like some KT terms are doing) then washing it is a waste of time. But if you have an assigned truck like KR does then you should take some pride and wash your truck. It does have it's rewards. I have received a new truck before more senior drivers because I keep my truck clean and they didn't.

Slip seating drivers, and they wonder why the fuel mileage drops and Give A you-know-what factor goes away.

Hmmm I see it more this way. If you are washing someone else's truck for free you are a sucker or a tool. If it was important to the company they would pay to have it done. If you have time for washing the truck for free or polishing their wheels for free you may wish to find employment with someone that will keep you busy doing what you are paid to do...driving(Or should we all show our company pride and do that for free as well).

Not sure why I even felt compelled to response to this statement. It surely isn't the first asinine thing I have read nor will it be the last. See I am paid to wash my truck, or I can pedal it on over to the beacon and let them do it. Are you really not paid to wait while your truck is being serviced or getting repair work done? What will be next? You gonna start chipping in for fuel or buying additive for your company?

How about companies' charging their drivers rent for living in the truck? wait a minute! I heard Covenant was deducting money from their drivers for idle time! I hope my company doesnt hear about that!

What's worse ? Companies that charge their drivers for idle time OR drivers that take that kind of abuse ?
