    It's not the touchy-feely thing.

    Tourists, plain and simple.
It is the same with New York here.

A lot of people streaming in from all the different countries to a focal point, and then spread out from there.
With a virus with such a long incubation period, and one that treats different people in different ways - it simply sneaks in before you know what is happening.

TokyoJoe and Bean Jr. Thank this.

I don't no where the op runs. But on the north half of the I-95 corridor. Traffic in general trucks, cars, buses everything, is way down. Usually conn from exit 27 to ny is congested. Then when you enter ny from the border to the 287 split is congested. From exit 7 to the GWB alone can take a hour of more. All last week never stopped once. Yes I did have to slow down to about 45-50 at times. But for most part just non stop.
As far as truck stops being full. I disagree with that also. Havent had a problem finding parking, at any time day or night. In fact there has been plenty of parking.
What will the future hold, no one knows. I do mostly medical equipment (beds, pet scans mamagram machines, dialysis machines and supplies, pharmaceutical equipment) it was crazy busy as could be. However now its cancelled load after load. So imho when it breaks its gonna be a huge backlog of loads.

I read its 3 things mainly: 1. The population is old, 2. Northern Italy where this outbreak is happening has alot of chinamen working in the factories, 3. Theyre reporting all kinds of deaths being attributed to corona when they actually arent caused by it.

#1 is a big factor with Italy.
It wasn't long before they were refusing to treat people over 80 years old.
That is now down to 60 years old.

I'm not sure if that is in the news reports, but I have a daughter stuck out there right now. We talk.

One thing to consider...as drivers we are very exposed to catching Covid19. We could end up losing a lot of drivers. Many of the guys I see on the road are what you would call high risk. If this keeps up we could end up with a shortage of drivers.

One thing to consider is that we really do not come into contact with that many people out here - if we do not choose to.

What’s your argument ? The daily deaths before the virus or with the virus?

Same.. I've had a CCW permit for several years, but I never actually carry it on me. I don't live in that type of fear that I need to carry a gun everywhere I go, usually only time I have it on my person is if I'm in the woods hiking. I've always carried it in a specific backpack while traveling. I've never actually pulled it, but one time while traveling cross country in my van prior to doing OTR trucking I did actually unzip that front pouch and got the gun ready.. Never had to display it though as I got out of the situation via getting into my vehicle and leaving but it was a pretty sketchy situation and someone else might have shot the person.. gladly I looked for other options before the last one..

Do you ever take the tin foil hat off and just think maybe there is actually a pandemic event going on and people are doing what needs to be done? Is everything always some evil conspiracy where your life is controlled by some evil guys trying to get rich?

I mean it's just a thought.. but some times reality is what is the obvious thing that is happening in front of your eyes. It doesn't mean that some wont try to take advantage but you are a fool if you think this #### is all just some conspiracy to take your rights away...
