Go around or park when necessary. Drivers make driving decisions. Dispatchers make dispatching decisions. I pull tankers, crosswinds are something you read about on the internet.

Agreed, that's a better route, but there can still be some pretty scary winds near Cheyenne.

Wyoming is one state that I carefully consider everything. BEFORE I get there.

I have to scan a picture I got somewhere in my pile. I was westbound downgrade to Laramie. A pop up winter blizzard was raging at the bottom.

I hate surprises. Above that storm clear skies that we had up to that summit where Lincoln is and at half way down storm conditions worthy of chain.
UGH and here I was barefoot and light.

I made it to Ft Bridger in I think about 12 hours. Took me about 16 to sleep that off. Crazy. See if I like that trailer dog tracking that far off to the side all over my right mirror. I finally just say eff that mirror I mind my drives. Tippy tipyy tippy.

And whats crazy? I started using that deep snow no one wanted to be in. Add some horses. That held me down. Stuff nightmares of made of.

Near Chugwater is where I saw the most blow overs on 25. There's a butte north of there that when you leave it's shielding you can get blasted with a sudden 40+mph gust.

Only takes 35 to 40 mph wind gusts hitting the trailer at the right angle to flip you right over when you’re empty. 60 to 80 mph wind gusts will flip a fully loaded maxed out trailer over if it hits right. I would be checking the forecast before I ran through there with an empty.

That chunk of i70 is my favorite stretch of interstate. Its work to drive it but for my money its the most beautiful.
Also the 6 from Spanish forks is really fun and pretty when you are empty.
No reason not to choose it in my opinion

Agree. I pulled a lot of empty tanks across Wyoming even when the high wind warning were out. Of course, you have to take other factors like snow and ice into consideration there too.

    Try Wyoming Travel Information .

This is Saturday. You can't know what the wind in Wyoming will be two days from now. You'll have to get close, then check it and make a decision. I've been across Wyoming with very light loads many times. There have also been times when I've had to sit for a day or two.
