Trucking Economist Predicts “A Lot of Trucking Failures” Coming Soon Due to Pandemic What do yall th

I believe we are about to cull the herd.
Headed that way before this pandemic imho.
This is going to accelerate the process.
I believe recovery will be much quicker than in the past recessions.

 

When will people feel comfortable going to a ballgame, movie, restaurants.
Not for quite a while.
I watched a couple of guys disinfecting fuel pumps at a Conoco this morning and realized the world will never be the same.
This virus will fade and then return next winter.

 

For folks who have managed to save and are sitting on liquid assets I believe there will be some good buys in the coming months for big ticket items and vehicles, especially class 8 trucks.

 

Companies that put away for a rainy day will survive. Companies running week to week will fail
Nothing new or unexpected on a downturn.

 

This time is different, usually Trucking is the first to feel the pain, and first to bounce back. This time we’re the last, but still will be the first to bounce back. To compare this to 08-09, isn’t a fair analogy. So many underlying problems led up to the previous crash. That is everything was prime for a crash. Too much credit extended, built on a house of cards, the housing market. We were headed there again, with the first signs of cracking already starting to show. Debt levels as high as before, a slowdown in manufacturing. Banking regulations being relaxed. It was only a matter of time till another recession hit anyways. No sense in worrying, although it’s impossible not to. This time everyone’s in the same boat. Not just those who were over leveraged. Not just the speculatiors. I made it through the 08-09 crash. Though I went through bankruptcy and foreclosure in the process, I was able to feed and keep shelter for my family.There’s always a way, painful as it may be. It’s never the end of the world. Life goes on, and the important things become the focus. When this things over, the economy will take off like a Rocket. And we will have staved off an impending normal recession. Not to worry, eventually we’ll have another recession. But not for a while anyways. That’s what I think. Having gone through the worse,exactly 11 yrs ago, I’m not very worried this time. Even if I lose everything again, life goes on. Material things come and go. Not as important as we’ve been programmed to believe.

 

For decades I had the big fancy house, kept up with the Jones, new car every year etc. now? I’m buying a small piece of land near a lake, that allows you to place an RV on it. Gonna have a deck, big barbecue pit, small outbuilding to work from, etc. simple, cheap, easy living. And you know what? I’ll be happier than i ever was living in those big houses all those years. Financially free, comfortable simple living. Too many Americans got caught up in “things” Ready or not there soon going to learn that those things really didn’t matter.

 

I go back to the stories of spanish flu after a great war 1918 and beyond. That flu took 3 years to sweep the world in three waves. The second was the killer. I actually caught spanish flu (H1n1) this year in Jan. Took 3 weeks to five weeks before full power. Day four was really important when the virus attacked the brain. I had tamiflu a antiviral double dose that day. Something that did not exist in the original spanish flu. I was also very infectious for about 3 weeks. So my caregiver caught something off me but her defenses from immunization. So after two days she was fine.

I did visit two doctors who implimented infectious patient rules for their offices. Little did anyone know then that I was going to be the first of what has become normal if the doctors are still open this year. I am down to two, one of which has a appt in May. If I see him? Great. If not? I am on my own. Bottoms up. And we go from there.

I watched China collaspe as a functioning state from Dec 15 to Jan 30 The Internet was critical as certain persons sacrificed to get information out to the free world what is going on and were disappeared after. Enough got out combined with NASA and other resources helping to see what is happening there. In the mean time airliners continued to shuttle the infection around thousands every hour. By the time they stopped the horse had already escaped in the world. And here we are.

This exposed the weakness and sort of lie that the stratetic and Fema stock pile was, some of it is unusable, expired, defective etc. Exposed our losses in medicine because everything is made in china. When china stopped we all stopped. Exposed other flaws and so on across the board and here we are today what we are doing waiting for the killing to take off. We understand how it kills and what is needed to stop it. The problem is a percentage gets reinfected again.

You cannot stop America. But we just did. You will not get america going again as it was before ever. We will become something else. Looting, crime and so on has begun already. Military callups have gone out not only for medical support etc but also social discipline. There is about a million pending. There will be order. Not necessarily law. Not the laws we used to enjoy. But rather Occupation Laws.

One hopes this is over by 1 June. But we are not there yet. The killing is accelerating and its a dangerous time. Forget the economics.

Trucking will turn out to be a most vital cornerstone of the USA> You stop the trucks then you stop America. Thats going to create much bigger problems. FAST. Possibly those who hold CDL's on Tier Two will be called up to haul dead bodies around USA to crematories not yet running into the night. (Check your Tier Two CDL's and understand that you are to do that under that tier when called up) And possibly those like me who have held CDL's but run car licensing will be issued a truck and told mush. Because we would have by then lost enough truckers to threaten America.

The Government will continue. The military will continue. Its called Continuity of Governmnet under plans 3400, 3500 and 3600 under Northcomm Command which is running the battle currently raging medically here. Lets hope thats where it stays. And that falls on us in our families and children to try and do our best. We will see a lot of losses and killing. But when this is over there is a oppertunity that this Nation will roar back in a BIG way and make pernament changes to make everything here at home as we once did before in our 230 year history.

But trucking? Thats the cornerstone right now. Don't stop the trucks and be prepared if under tier two to be told to run a truck to run dead bodies to crematoriums into the night around the USA. We are going to burn quite a few of them. We have to.

Eventually we will have vaccines, anti gens, anti bodies from plasma off survivors and so on and our bodies will learn to chuck this off like anything else such as Polio etc. Eventually. Maybe 7 months maybe 18. We already have everything we know now. The problems is rules and regulations. If the killing gets horrific they might toss that and start sticking everyone.

Valley Forge USA When Geo Washington was facing a total destruction of his Army by Spring raging against Typus and espeically Smallpox they started vaccinating those who were not sick right there by the camp fires in camp army wide by taking pus of the sick and jabbing into arms of the healthy. We lost 20% immediately but the rest of the healthy took it as immunity and became able to take care of the sick and continue to learn Drill. That drill exists to this day in some form when we train our modern military recruits with weapons. It was also the first human use of vaccination against a horrible medical enemy in the modern world.

Don;t worry. We will still be America in my house. And we will get through this dead or alive. We are not gauranteed tomorrow. Some of us never get any more tomorrows. So live today. Its all you get. Until tomorrow.

 

I too am in good shape to weather the storm.
But I know many aren't and I wish them well, and there is definitely a lesson here.
Been thru many downturns/recessions and we always get back up.

 

To break this post up into one more thought.

You truckers are it. You don't stop. You don't moan, complain, whine or cry. Do that quietly in the sleeper or at home. But do your best. This is the time that you all have been praying for decades. No one gives a *&^% about truckers. Well suddenly here we are. You have a opportunity to make a brighter and better trucking industry after this covid19 pandemic is all over. And it will be way better in everything.

We got kicked around like curs in the way underfoot for way too many years. Abused even. Well here we are at a form of war inside the USA and you need to roll em now. Worry about the rest tomorrow. They are learning that we are America. Not necessarily united, badly divided and extremely disllusioned in wages, working conditions and so on with essentially crappy trucks. But my hope that when this is over and all of you have not stopped and did your best your future will be better.

If it does not? Then find something to do that you enjoy in life other than trucking. Don't keep abusing yourself when this Nation gets rolling again as we have in the past several times.
