If this pandemic gets better in a month or two, you are probably right. It will bounce back fairly quick. This isnt really an economic recession, yet. But if the pandemic drags on, it will become one. Then it will take years to recover. We shall see.

It wont be long before the "flash mobs" start hitting grocery stores. 20 people rush into the store at the same time grab a bunch of food and run out. Like they do at high end clothing stores.

I don't think it's the size or cause of the pullback that will dictate recovery time but the trepidation/caution that companies and investors will have after this is over.
    Kinda like the banking/mortgage recovery.
    Slow but sure.

What I worry about is this.

    Stay with me here.

Work. Make 10.00 a hour. Work enough hours pay rent or mortgage pay bills whats left you scrape together while you live out your existence cradle to grave.

    Now...

If the people suddenly understood all this imaginary government checks keep coming or even a Universal monthly check from dear Uncle Sam, why bother paying the bills. Let it all go.

Thats the collapse I am afraid of. A complete and total failure of our money system from banks on down.

They don’t want housing prices to go down the toilet... hence, the promise of government checks. As long as people believe in the system, the system can survive.

This could be over more quickly than you think. We have the technology to test, we have effective drugs to cure the virus. We could cancel the laws keeping us on lockdown and crank up the country. The government has over $2 trillion to jump start most every thing.

If you have symptoms you get tested. If you have the Wu Han virus you take the pills. The immuno-compromised take precautions as they always do but the drugs will save around 98% if they get the virus. It could end tomorrow.

Will it? Who knows. This scenario is probably too obvious. Maybe just wishful thinking.

I don't believe in the system, I'm just not willing to act on that belief as of yet. The system is built on confidence of a fake money system. They can print as much as they want and as long as you have confidence and faith, all is good.

As for house prices, I'm waiting for the crash, looking to pick up something cheap near Missoula, Montana.

I’ve said all along since day one that testing is the key to beating this. Knowledge is power. I’m going with the Harvard scientist report a while back. He estimates that as many as 60 million of us have already had this virus in America. And the death rate is actually 0.25%. Once the government realize that they’re going to turn everybody loose. Yes people will die, yes this is the most contagious aggressive virus in human history

But if we don’t get America back to work soon, the fallout from this is going to pale in comparison to how many premature deaths in poverty we will create out there. If we’re not back to work by May 15, forget about it all bets are off.

Not enough tests no magical cure 18 months of grinding it out vaccine or not that should be enough time for it to run through 80% of the population.
