    Good to see your post.
It's a mess. I have 2 still in school here in Henderson, Nevada and their schools are shut down, probably for the rest of the school year. No messages about "distance learning" so far.

Just go local. Gas can, Ltl, concrete. Take up flatbedding and move into rental equipment delivery.

I received the message while I was coaching. We were on the road and the girls were just finishing up their soccer game and I found out we were closed till the 28th of March. Then, earlier this week it changed to the 13th of April. Now they are saying it is indefinitely closed. We are allowed back on campus for no more than 10 minutes next week to get our stuff.

The Principal literally said get it and get out and meet with no one, no hand shaking etc. The standards test is cancelled, all testing in fact is cancelled. Even if we go back, it will be just glorified baby sitting.

We're looking at the suburbs of Chicago right now. She has family there and wants to be closer to them. Joliet and the surrounding areas more specifically. I guess that isn't really the true suburbs of Chicago, but you get the idea.

Illinois is a "high tax" state that people are leaving by the thousands.
But, have to keep the wife happy.
Try Old Dominion Freight Lines for local or regional.

retired to care for sick wife.

she passed away and now I'm just retired and watching the world disintegrate while cracking a cold one one the deck.

Sounds miserable to me but I'm pretty sure there's good money to be made around there.

I go trucking..pay off bills..stash some cash..and go home for a few months..since nobody actually gives you the home time they promise.
I get restless and go trucking again when I run out of cash...

    dwells40 and bentstrider83 Thank this.

More power to you on that one. Definitely more fortitude than some of us have. I've been pushed by some to go into for whatever reason. Some of it related to money and job/security. Another one, particularly by some distant relatives, was to make me into a more caring person. The latter being kind of strange since one would probably already need that well before getting into the healthcare field.

I'm still on the fence about many things. But like many others, I'm probably going to take the quiet way out and look into remote property here in NM, build one of those Taos Earthship, "super adobe" homes, and just tend to a personal vegetable garden.
The way the world's been going lately, I think there's going to be a brave few continuing to "rush into the fire", while there's going to be an even larger lot of us ditching the cosmopolitan dream and heading for a more, low-fi kind of life.
