Had a customer try to buy some Amber turn lamps, only had multi colored Grote in stock. One side red and the other yellow. He didn't know if DOT will let that slide or not. Said he was using it on a tow truck of some sort.
Will a multi color turn lamp comply with DOT regs?

That’s similar to what I use. Amber to the front, red to the rear.

Single color or multi color has both the same chance of being the wrong lamp unit on a truck, the chance of it being that is .000000001% of a chance.
Most if not all enforcement cops will never know the difference or care.Bgarcia Thanks this. -
Not that the cops in force it but
All lights facing forward must be white or amber/yellow
All lights facing back must be red yellow/amber allowed for turn ONLY
white for backing ONLY...
that's dot NOT fmcsa rules.... -
Second the forward and facing rear lamps according to function.
It has been half a life time since Ive had trucks with mirror or fender lamps. But they were bi colored, red to rear and yellow forward.
The next consideration is vehicle age. For example if it is a passenger car before around 1963, it does not have seatbelts. So it's still legal.Bgarcia Thanks this. -
