Can’t even get an endorsement, much less a cdl in Virginia. It’s all shut down and no appointments allowed. they have extended license expiration as well as physical expiration, but if you need a new endorsement you are screwed

most of the mega's schools are temp shut down right now, too. FFE, who I was considering going through. Closed the school starting last week. Really, since DMV is close, AND mos schools will be closing, if not already, due to the social distancing. Pretty much assume for at least the next 60-90 days you won't be able to finish and get your CDL.
tommymonza, Upinsmoke and tscottme Thank this. -
To be fair I think the requirements have been put high mostly on the Pretrip, the skills test there shouldn't be lax at all. An example would be I know of a diesel mech who knows about trucks in and out, however, due to fact he didn't say the exact word that the examiner reads from a book he fails the pre-trip part.
He failed it twice and eventually got on 3rd try. Also would add a lot the older drivers prob would have issues with that test compared how it been changed more scrutiny I can't remember what the heck I did but I think was tankers or something years back anyways I went back get endorsement I think I took back before the changes the DPS examiner just said to me I am certain you know your stuff and told me to skip pre-trip and just drive as if you care and your do fine now again this was years back before all these big changes. I passed, of course, got my endorsement for the life can't remember what endorsement I think was tanker not positive.
To some old drivers I am not saying you don't know what's under the hood am saying you prob wouldn't pass the test the way they have it now on how asinine it is now. That said I do think some the super truckers couldn't tell you difference from oil and power fluid unless it was labeled.Upinsmoke Thanks this. -

I don't think I would take a CDL for the current Emergency as claimed by the article. There are many truckers who have worked at least some time in their life with big rigs and can be issued CDL A's for 180 days and roll within the hour.
One issue is hearing aids are trapped in a closed clinic chain. It will be a while. The other is eye surgery that is becoming necessary later this year. So things change and I roll with the punches so to speak.
The students will just have to hang in there. If they are unemployed due to closures and so on they file for same. Get that money stacked up by end of summer.Upinsmoke Thanks this.
