What did they use as a reason to search? There has to be probable cause right?

I don’t think they have to have probable cause to search a cmv, definitely don’t need it to stop you and inspect you.

Random DOT inspections include the load, paperwork, and mechanicals of the truck. Searching the cab is another story.

Interstate commerce, no probable cause needed. It’s a quick money maker for them.Split proceeds of street value of drugs with Feds. Cash confiscated the State gets to keep it all. Once they busted a Truck near Meridian, supposedly looking for the cash buyer in the area. I never saw so many State Troopers Ms. and Al. Pulling over anyone and everyone. Look up the Memphis scandal on UTube. They literally confiscated drugs and let the two Illegal Truckdrivers go.

@HoneyBadger67, read the above post carefully.

Every state has slightly different CCW laws. CCW is not talking about transporting inside your cab. That’s about you having the gun on you OUTSIDE the truck. In most state, they will have the castle law. In the free world, there’s no issues with you having a firearm in a commercial vehicle. But, what you have to do is research the state CCW laws, and the castle law. You’re not covered by the castle law until your castle is breached. Someone trying to get into your castle does no constitute a castle breach, and you will be in deep doo doo.

What also gets people thrown in jail is pointing a gun at someone to “scare them off.” Or firing a warning shot. Or saying the word “FIGHT” when giving a statement to the blues.

It can be done, it however requires you and me to be diligent with our research. One more thing, if you disassemble a gun, is it still a gun? Barrel in your toolbox, mag in your side box and polymer in the microwave in the sleeper?

cuzzin it and HoneyBadger67 Thank this.
