It has been nice on that end the nursing homes a lot of them won't let us in at all and I just leave there stuff outside and they have to get it. That part has been thumbs up for me.

Anyone watch Office Space? Right now it feels like that birthday scene where Milton gets screwed out of the last piece of office cake while inside a skeleton crew room cause everyone got laid off.

Took a paid day off to celebrate my birthday in the AM of the 9th. Dispatcher was on the way out with his usual cheerful smile. ",Hey ya R/R. Happy early bday. You taking your fam out anywhere fancy to eat?". Took me a second to mentally browse through all the cool places I had lined up before I went "mother....trucker"...

Loud chuckle before I heard Happy Birthday as he left.

This is a union thing. But they put up the bids twice a year for all of us to sign on to. They took down the bids before the rest of us got a chance to sign on. It's the equivalent of someone tearing down your work schedule cause they plan on laying off a bunch of people.

Yeah, I am Milton and I got my cake. But things just got real. Bill count collapsed from 300-500 a night outbound to about 120 within two weeks.

Happy birthday to me. Send beer.

FedEx cancelled the bid as well, and I don’t blame them. All the work they did analyzing freight flows went out the window and now it’s anyone’s guess what this summer will bring.

I would have killed for some of my old nursing home stops to be like that! I had one that got an entire pallet of dry goods. About 20 packs of 6/10lb cans got wheeled into the kitchen, the rest of it had to be stacked onto the tail of my trailer and then stacked onto a flatbed cart and brought down to the basement. The cart barely fit through the door and you had to get a running start to make it over the bump in the door frame. Then figure on waiting 5+ min for each elevator trip because the residents preferred using the freight elevator.

This was on a light day, usually filled a second cart and second dolly too.

Seeing people post on FB that FxF is starting furloughs, voluntary for now. These days I’m seeing 3-6 road trucks parked at night, so even if they need to get rid of 6 drivers I should still be ok.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

We've had a couple driver self quarantine at home. That has helped.
Start times have been posted later in the day, to prevent us from being in so early.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

Fedex Frght is asking for Volunteers for furloughs or they will start at the bottom drivers and work there way up till they have their numbers.
