Cummins suggests changing the oil at high mileage intervals based on mpg for x15 engines. Seems like a lot of miles on an oil change. What is everyone else doing? A lot of you will probably say do it more often but don't want to if it can be prolonged safely.

12-15 thousand miles..... it’s worth it
stillwurkin Thanks this. -
Every 3,000 miles. Seriously, changing engine oil more often doesn't really help it last longer but using the right oil and changing at the right intervals will make a HUGE difference on the wallet and help conservation.
-
Well ask any ISX owner how their cams liked extended oil change intervals. I see no reason to trust what Cummins says for service intervals after that even with the X15 being a different engine.
bzinger and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
A defect on ONE engine does not dictate the laws of physics.

Well if you think going 1,000+ hours on oil is ok, have at it. To me, 500 hours max. Oil and filtration have not advanced a whole lot in the last 10-15 years.

Actually they have advanced a whole lot while you are asleep. If you want to catch up here is a link

Get you a bypass filtration system. Change filters every 12-15k. Send oil in for testing. Most go around 80-100k miles till it needs to be replaced

You got pictures of the filtration system you put on? I would like to see how it looks since we have the same trucks.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
I do my ISX-

Coolant filter and air yearly.
