Cummins oil change intereval x15

    That's what Cummins dictate in their documentation anyway. Independent on the fuel mileage or the duty, they limit the change interval to 500h or 12 months.

    The way that reads is whichever comes first: mileage, engine hours, or time (age of oil from last oil change). For most people, the mileage limit will come first.

    I like how Cummins maintenance intervals are more specific than Detroit’s.

    How could the mileage come first?

    50,000 ÷ 500= 100mph with 0 idle time.

    Good catch. It’s likely a typo. I found a different Cummins document using 1,000 engine hours instead, which is realistically possible.

    60 (mph average) x 1000 (hours) = 60,000 (miles)

    As a comparison, the DD15 engine manual has the engine hours rising from “Severe Duty” to “Long Haul.” See images.

    Oil and filter is cheap. Camshaft and rockers not cheap.
