I’m familiar with the area, I was actually up that way this past weekend. I like it. I don’t do much besides work either. Typically 6 days a week, 60-70 hours, and commute 18 hours. Doesn’t leave much time for anything else, but some quiet r and r. We have Amish and/or Mennonite down near where I currently live. I’m also a sucker for food lol.

The location up there is quite comparable to where I live now. Travel 30 minutes or so to nearest big box store or anything, but there’s only one way to get in and out of where I live, and I hate that aspect of it. I’m in Dameron MD if anyone is curious to see lol.

And yes Supervalu, moved out of that DC, which is why Albertsons has suddenly decided to close Safeway DC and relocate up there.

There are a couple minor townships, villages rather up that way that are extremely attractive for quiet.

If that is what one is looking for.

And the food. sheesh... Everyone has something...

Hmmmm...makes sense now. I've heard that UNFI bought out SuperValu, so making that DC an all Albertsons plant is a no brainier.

I've never understood why that DC was still named SuperValu when there were nothing but ACME employee's there. Tractors were ACME, so we're the trailers and yard jockeys. They were still using SuperValu trailers too. Even the guys who worked there couldn't me a straight answer as to why SuperValu was still there, until @Pintlehook, who was a SuperValu driver, explained to me that they were still running operations there.

The last time I talked to my buddy at ACME, he did mention that they delivered to Safeway stores too. So I guess it was meant to be.

But ya’ll aren’t doing the 119 Safeway stores yet are you? All I see is contractors running that work so far. I’m just waiting for Safeway to let us know when we can transfer up there to work.

How are the Safeway’s working out with trip pay so far? Some of the Safeway stores aren’t going to get done in the allotted time per the contract.
Also, how is unloading gonna work out? I recall ACME is store unload, whereas Safeway is mostly driver unload.
Just got a letter today saying we’ll have work down here until 6th of June.

That’s not bad at all. Dover can be hit or miss. Depends who’s there. When it’s all the perishable instead of just produce and milk, it can be time consuming. There’s one guy there though that unloads really well.

Is that how you’re finding all the trips so far, that your taking less time than allotted for the trip? Also, How often are you running multiple loads? Or is that not really a thing up there.

How long have you been there? I know there’s slight variation in what we do, but I love the job. Hence why I’m planning on moving from the very southern tip of MD up there to continue my employment. I wish our seniority would carry with us though, but at least pay and benefits do. I’m pretty used to being near the bottom for bids with my 2.5 years with Safeway lol.

Sorry for all the questions, it’s the first opportunity I’ve had to talk to someone that currently works there. We’re all in the dark with he say she say BS down here. And so many people just slandering the whole corporation for closing this DC down here.

I just started but you can run a double load if you get back and have enough time. They give you plently of time to get the loads in which is why I’ve been doing them shorter then the time given. So far seems like a very good place to work.
