Due to some unusual circumstances I ended up with more equipment than normal at a job site. I am guessing my gross is less than 75k but I bet I am around 37k on my trailer axles. This is a fixed axle equipment trailer with no way to move the machinery on it any other way.
I need to get this from Oklahoma back home to Texas and really don’t want to make another trip.
What happens if I get caught? Is it just a fine or do I get shut down? I don’t care about a fine I just don’t want to be shut down somewhere. Been on this job a month and am ready to get home.
What happens if you are overweight?

Depends on the state you are in when caught. Some are fix it states, meaning you must get load legal before leaving the scale others they just fine you and send you down the road.
3k over doesn't seem like much but to some states it can be out of service, others it won't even get any attention.
If I read this correctly, Oklahoma is an unload state at the discretion of the officer.

Reason for edit: Add link to OK law -
In fuel it will be cheaper to two trip it than to pay the fine for violating weights plus any potential lets take a exam of you and your truck inspection that follows.
Some states write tickets to company others to the driver. 3000 pounds at even .15 a pound for axle 500 give or take dollars. You will probaby do two trips and get it done without the hassle. The axle rate I gave you dates to the 80's so god only knows what they are now.GoldenLad Thanks this. -
If the ticket is less than $5000 I will take my chances. I don’t care about the cost I just don’t want to get shut down. It is a 18hr round trip to make another trip

I have been on the road a month and have four days off at home before I go out again. I don’t want to spend two of those days driving.

A quick look at the Texas Code, overweight on axle but not gross ranges from $250-$1000, can be less at a Judges discretion. Oklahoma is similar fine range but appears to be a state that can make you unload on the spot to become legal, which means another company may have to come haul away the extra piece of equipment?

That is what I am worried about. I own the company so driver or company ticket doesn’t matter. Just want to get home.

Plenty of back roads from OK to TX. Just don't roll aross a scale...
brianv31, theSoz, kemosabi49 and 10 others Thank this. -
For 3k pounds I would just run it, do my best to avoid a scale. -
No easy scenic route?
