I would love to know who the dumb### are that keep taking the cheap rates off the load board. There is one one the board tonight for 439 miles for $300. And it goes to a military base. 500 pounds and 17 feet of deck space.

Do carriers know how long you must set and wait to get on some of these bases? How do you take a load TL, LTL, or PTL for 68 cents per mile and plan on making a living? Do people run a spread sheet and know their cost to run a mile.

Yes, fuel prices are down but there is no justification for taking such a load. Insurance, maintenance, and every other cost keep going up and these dumb### are hauling CHEAP FREIGHT thinking that they need to get to the good lanes. There are no good lanes. Even the good lanes are dropping the rates to less then costs. The brokers are saying put it together with another load. There are so few loads that you can not do that. The brokers are and have been giving definite pick up and drop times and dates and yet they call them PTL or LTL. When there is no other freight to block together or enough time to put loads together you are running a TL. People will pay TL rates when carriers stop taking garbage rates.

Brokers are posting loads for $1.00 a mile or less and people are moving them. The next time there is a similar load they are going to post it for $.90 a mile.

    Stop Hauling CHEAP Freight

I overheard an owner in a bar one night complaining to a friend, "Those SOBs just cut my rate to $2.25 per mile." That was over 10 years ago. With the prices of trucks, trailers, insurance, fuel, tires going up at unbelievable rates how do you think you can stay afloat with less than $1 a mile freight? Why are you moving freight and losing money on every mile? You are better off setting in your drive way.

I watched a single broker post 2 different loads on the load board 54 times yesterday. So I thought I would try the same idea.

They just don’t get it. I have seen loads get covered that make absolutely no sense to haul... guess they’ll eventually figure it out when they realize they are hardly profiting

Eh well, if it was too cheap it wouldn’t move. Might have just been people trying to get home and figured it was better than paying out of pocket to get the truck there. Spot market is what it is.

I know the exact load you are talking about.. it's King of Freight load in FL and yes they are 100% trying to #### drivers. There is not a load on the board right now in CFL that pays enough to leave my house...

That load has been on there 3 days though, so no one's taking it. Also just because the ######## post it at that rate doesn't mean calling them and telling them you want more wont work..

It’s bad right now, there still are decent rates ($1.40-$2) but those loads disappear quicker than they are posted. I spent 2 days trying to get rolling. I called on the ####ty rate loads and got the same schpeel “yeah the customer is wanting to move it as a partial so that’s all I got in it.” Give them my price and sure enough some dingbat takes the asking rate and I see it get taken off the board. It’s a quandary, I don’t wish I’ll on anyone but I also wish those drivers that take this garbage would face the reprocussions of it. Sadly it’s not overnight they will realize they ####ed up.

Hang in there fellas, live slim and don’t gouge your savings too bad while we weather the storm.

Keep swinging brother. I wish you all the luck. I was starting out with new MC in 2008. So I have been in something similar but afraid this will be much bigger. I have not been on load board for awhile and can only imagine.

The problem is the rates are not consistent around the country. You might wait 2 or 3 days to get that $1.40/mile load to leave the house on, then end up somewhere they are trying to pay .50-$1/mile..

From what I saw the past 2 weeks brokers post a TL (hot shot TL) at $1 but once you see that $1.50 or up you better be dialing their extension already. I got April covered this week so I’m gonna park for a week and try again for a decent May
