That's freaking insane how they would rather have you sit somewhere in your truck for 2 days instead of being closer locally to get errands/shopping done.

Except the planners that have been with the company for 20 years aren't expected to actually inform the drivers of anything and since we have to deal with them through middlemen they call Fleet Managers it is obviously this way by design so I just burn up the fuel whenever I get bent over. If anybody ever decides to question what I did then I'd explain that their morons put me in the situation to have to fend for myself for 3 days therefore I drove where I wanted to be for the weekend.
The thing is, nobody ever asks. Too bad nothing is open. I'd drive even more.mushroom1464 and Lonesome Thank this. -
They do that here too. Usually at 16:45 on Friday the planners dump the weekend loads on the DM's so they can dispatch them. The problem is, my DM is in Ottawa, IL. He comes in at 4 am to do the yard check and get all his #### together for the day before the three ring Mascot mayhem circus begins. So Friday ends up being a very long day for him. I really don't know how he keeps from going insane because he gets it from both sides. I personally go out of my way to not be a problem for him...I save it for other levels of management.
Safety said to have the loaders end stuff the entire side with the mini jumbos because it's 5mm then let it ride. They said that with all the phone calls and txt messages about it, I am covered as far as breakage.
The misinformation department in Fargo sent out a notice that effective immediately all of PA and TX have now made it mandatory to wear face covering in public. I looked everywhere online and couldn't find any information saying TX was doing it statewide, just select cities and counties. So, either they got some advanced info or they were misinformed.Last edited: Apr 18, 2020

Don’t know about the rest of Texas4mer trucker Thanks this. -
D
Or did they put that on hold for the time being. -
I did get close to 2000 miles for the week so I am sure that some other drivers who are under 1000 probably got the loads I saw just sitting there waiting for someone to pick them up earlier today. -
At least there still trying.
Whole lot of drivers have already got
Their walking papers.
I could survive off of 750 a week for awhile.
You could always leave, but that's just rolling
The dice for any of us right now.TokyoJoe Thanks this. -
Naa, I'm not even complaining about the miles or the pay. I'm retired military anyway. I'll always get a paycheck. I'm just stating what should be common courtesy from those who expect every little detail from us about everything on our schedule.
My post was about how the planners not only screw over the driver but also end up costing the company 100s of dollars a week for each driver because they don't even attempt to let the driver know wtf is going on.
This wouldn't be too difficult...
" Hey Mr Driver. I understand that you will be trying to deliver that load tonight in the hope that you will get another load for the weekend. Why don't you find somewhere enroute to park where you can spend the weekend and try to deliver on Sunday night because there are no loads available this weekend. You could even park at our terminal and enjoy free coffee, showers, a company vehicle, free laundry, and can plug the truck in and run all of your electronics all weekend for free!!!"
Instead I drive all the way there, idle 4-6 hours a day for 3 days to charge batteries, and drive an extra 100 miles round-trip to go somewhere besides a POS glass plant with no restrooms or anything.
Instead of 2 way communication, Pilot gets an extra 100 dollars from one of our 1500 trucks. In fact I see 4 of our other trucks right here within 20 parking spaces in the same truck stop. I also saw 4 more at the truck stop across the street from the guardian plant. There's probably at least 25 of us in this area.
Maybe they'd be able to pay our standard minimum pay if it wasn't for their planners causing things like this to happen.Last edited: Apr 18, 2020
