Well there are stupid and rude people everywhere, if you don't have a CB you deal with them at fuel islands, truck stops, rest areas, shippers, receivers, etc.

My CB earned its keep two seperate times for me. Both had to do with traffic backups.

The first was a backup on I-40. I knew about the backup from Google but had no way to stop and figure out how to get around it. I needed to get to our Lebanon yard to drop a trailer. A guy came on and said to take this particular exit. I thought to myself "yea, then what?" Well, someone beat me to it. He said he wasn't familiar with the area could he help with driving directions. The guy came on and explained EXACTLY what to do and how simple it was. Go down about 3/4 of a mile to such and such highway. Take a left and go down 30 miles and you will come out in Lebanon. I thought to myself cool, I'll try that. I did, and I came out 3/10 of a mile from our yard. The backup was 9 miles long and would have caused me to be very late.

The second was just the other day on the interstate where there was construction and the road split into two lanes, with both going through. Well, it just so happened a 4 wheeler jackknifed with a triple axle enclosed trailer in the LEFT lane about 8 or 9 miles ahead. Traffic was appearing to move just fine in both lanes where they split but the eastbound side kept telling us to stay right at the split or you'll be there forever. So I took the right side. Sure enough, a few miles down traffic came to a complete stop on the left lane and our right side moved just fine right on through. That saved me more hours of wasted waiting.

Had I not had a CB I wouldn't have known what to do in either instance. I find it to be very handy. It's not useful to me for hearing about bears as my truck won't speed on the interstate anyway, but traffic backups ahead it really helps. I've hit backups that truckers warned me about that google had not updated yet and showed the road as clear.

Man my cb saves me often. I really wish more people were on it. I think i was born in the wrong decade. I like the sound of a good cat and talking on my CB.

I had a great conversation with a snow plow one time . Cb is great in bad weather especially fog and ice . Can call out real slick spots . U better have it on driving thru 80 in wyoming. Has saved my butt many times . Its great tool, but very quiet out west

Naw, it all depends on having an adaptable attitude, choosing not to be annoyed by radio transmissions. Considering the source does it for me. On the other hand, if I was locked in that room, everyone better pray there's no microphone on that radio. Won't be me doing the crying and begging it to stop! (just kidding, I am decent on the radio)

You are lucky his gall bladder removal operation (or worse) was not the topic of the hour, discussed in every detail along with a periodic announcement of the other frequency on which he was simultaneously transmitting the full video of the procedure in color and HD.

I don't agree with that, you have bad actors on all sorts of platforms... Look at Social Media, it can be a real cesspool, and it can be positive.. The CB is no different..

Only use for a radio is single lane goat trails in the bush. Call your miles and that's it.
