Whats the market looking like over the next while for TX only flatbed? Much out there for O/S? Im just breaking out into this area with a 48' (expandable to 66') tri axle stepdeck and Im curious what to expect. I know it sure aint gonna be like this time last year...

Load board rates staying in Texas or going out of Texas have been crap. Can do alright heading into Texas, but still not great right now.

Ive been poking around on the DAT board and I see that rates are still north of 2/mile average. I think with a lil negotiating tactics a guy could do 2.50/mile all miles for the week on some lanes within the state...

Guess I didn't see the notification.

Freight is sketchy right now. We have lots of dedicated freight and barely do any broker freight, West TX is slooooow right now, although I've seen quite a bit of stuff runnin out that way last week. Lots of trucks sitting and I've seen lots of empty flatbeds runnin around.

Op, if you're looking to lease onto a CO, I think we can keep you busy, if you want, PM me and I'll get you in contact with recruiting.

$2.50/mi for ALL miles might be tough, You WILL have to DH for freight, especially OS/OW stuff.

This isnt a full weeks worth I know...but easy 2.55/mile all miles deadheading one way for a day n a half...Id only have to deadhead 20 miles from home base to start on it...

Yea good luck. You're looking at W Tx oilfield stuff. If you base your whole business model off that, you're going to go broke real fast. Might want to look at what WTI is trading for right now...

There are so many independent guys running Intrastate here that the rates are trash.

You probably picked the worst time ever to "break into this area". If you wanna give it go, then go for it. If it doesn't work, PM me and I'll give you my Co's info (we're a flatbed carrier with dedicated freight all over Tx and surrounding areas that is primarily lease operators).

I posted this just as a recent example of whats out there, I see lots of it. I will not be focusing on oilfield, but more so construction and the like. Also, my goal is not to be chasing brokers for more then a month or 2 full time as I will be trying to land a few direct shippers. Ive done this alot in the past elsewhere, so I know how it works...
I appreciate your offer, and I will keep it in mind, but for now I will be keeping my #'s and doing my own deal here.
