for the non believers. verifiable tractor trailer experience. so see they will check to see if its class a or not. always good just to ask up front on what they require. 5AC1DA25-19F1-4C24-9464-314A4CF69FF2.png EB940B04-4CAF-43CD-B2B9-DB3E5E1D9007.png

    I'll take a class b straight truck job,over any
Class A job if the money is anywhere near close.
Nowhere near the headache driving that box truck.

    Selva and truckdriver31 Thank this.

I've had my A since fall '01, but haven't driven a semi since early '02. Still working and driving straight trucks. No shame at all.

I know some drivers who, despite having a Class A, have spent their whole career driving Class B trucks. They work local, make a good living, and are perfectly content with what they're doing.

There’s nothing at all wrong with it, as far as legalities or anything like that.

You might notice some difficulty when you go to back up though. ;)

My full time driving job for 20 years was a Cdl-B straight truck for a tire company with an A license when my Uncle was still alive running the family business. I drove the ‘67 Pete (in my avatar) that was his at the time part time for the family business. Got the handle SmallPackage from him and the old hands because of it. Loved it. Best times I had. Never felt ashamed and always had respect from others. No worries.

I did it and came back. In the recession, (about 2009), I had gotten down to about 20 hours per week at the job I had doing about half oversized, half legal flatbed loads. I was sure the company wouldn’t see 2010. I took a straight truck job with a company that had tractor trailers because that’s what I could get and ran a route for them until a “big truck” position opened up. Took not quite a year and actually took a small pay cut but that put me in the position to start moving up at the company. A year after that I transferred to the “new division” as the first driver. Now senior driver. You never know what can happen...
