The 5/2, 5/3, or 6/3, or whatever the formula, is simple. The first number is the number of days you are working, the 2nd is the numbers of days off. This formula only works if you get back to the yard, and out of the truck for your days off.

Seymour is decent to work out of, or was while I drove out of there. Be prepared to slip seat until you get a schedule. My ADP (average day's pay) was around $425 when I transferred to a DC closer to home, but I extended into day 6 a lot (I was on a 5/2 with an assigned truck).

I really need some help. I’ve been offered to onboard with Seymour IN. Apparently the recruiter did not explain things to me. What is this mentor deal? No one said anything about going OTR with another driver-just a 4 day orientation, a weekend off, then report to DC following Monday. How long are you OTR with another driver? How does pay work for that? Are there female mentors? Also, should I tell my current company I am leaving before or after the class? I’ve read some threads that say you could come back jobless. This is confusing to me. I feel very under informed at this moment. Is there any type of rider policy or no? Do you ever have an opportunity to get an assigned tractor? I have 15yrs of experience and I don’t believe I’ve ever been more confused about a company, ever. I hear and read good things. Then I hear and read bad things. I just want the pay, and the on boarding process outlined pretty please! Somebody help!

you get paid for everything you do at walmart. gender doesnt matter on the dc trainer. you dont sleep in the truck together. walmart pays for hotel rooms for each of you. the dc training last anywhere between 1-2 weeks. also each transportation office is different miles, trucks, work programs, benefits and pay. dont stress it. just go be your self and have fun. yes you can bring wife, husband or girl friend/boyfriend. your kids. also what every you do. dont walk in high on the horse cause you got 15 years otr blah blah. here at wm you will learn everyday and do it all different. all the otr stuff you did outside of wm. will be all backwards. dont try to figure wm out. just do it and go make gravy

    - Your mentor will ride with you to show you all the ins and outs of doing things the WM way. You'll ride with him/her for perhaps 4-5 days up to a few weeks, depending on how fast you catch on. And as stated above, you wont sleep in the truck with your mentor.

    - The pay for your mentoring period is the same as normal pay..you'll get paid for all miles, drops, hooks, etc.

    - Perhaps the only flaw in the WM hiring process, is that you aren't in fact guaranteed a job until you complete onboarding. Quite a few don't make it through onboarding, and because they quit their previous job, are now without any job. Is that by any means ideal? Not even..but it is what it is. My suggestion is to take a week off from previous job if you can, and only quit that job after passing WM's onboarding. I realize that isn't possible for most, but if you can swing it that's the best way to ensure you have a job at the end of WM onboarding. Once you pass WM onboarding, you're an official WM driver..so you're good to quit previous job.

    - Rider policy? Yes.

    - Assigned tractor? Possibly. Depends on program you get assigned to/choose. Programs (work schedules) are generally available by DC seniority...so until you get a bit of time in at the WM DC you're working out of, you're most likely going to slip seat. Yea, that sucks..but the high pay you'll be making, can sometimes ease that pain.

Any other questions, post them here and someone will amble along to answer them :)

    Onboarding update!
Onboarding was moved to Red Bluff, California. Drove down yesterday and when I arrived at the DC this morning was told they were expecting 8 of us. 6 showed up. About 10AM this morning 1 of the candidates was called out of class and told to bring their things with them. Never saw him again!
We are now down to 5 and told to show up at 7am tomorrow morning and start doing pret trips.
Treatment has been excellent, excited for tomorrow.
