In Washington state you not only can draw unemployment while in school, you can have your benefits extended up to 26 weeks beyond their ending while you go to school. They don't pay for tuition, books, or necessities but you do get your base rate plus the $600 per week retroactive to the end of March and continuing until the end of July...possibly further if the virus doesn't give us a break. Here you don't get much of anything if you have not earned a certain amount in the last 18 months. The problem is the new 1099'ers for whom the state has to build a completely new matrix from scratch to accomodate those filers for the first time ever.
I could work enough hours, earn say 5000 gross, go home unemployed and collect a little over two times that doing nothing. But I wont. Its against principles. -
I didn't read most of this, not gonna lie. In NV two questions are were you available for work, and we're you attending school or training when you file. My stepson has lived a life without consequences so he generally doesn't turn his brain on before answering questions. His claim for the week he answered yes to attending training his claim was denied.
Edit...this also before the mass hysteria, not sure what would happen todayLast edited: Apr 22, 2020
