Hehe... feel for ya. I think you'll be ok. Experienced drivers know ya gotta get used to a different shift pattern.
I was the opposite of you. My very first job. Road tested a 10 speed. Never driven a 10 speed before. Had always driven a 13 speed (class B). I kept trying to skip 6th. Was making it work. But geesh! I was also wrapped up in driving a fully loaded trailer for first time. Also driving in a Major Metropolitan City in downtown for first time. The guy with me said: You sure keep the traffic first. ... I thought; You moron. I gotta keep considering the traffic first. ... Anyways... they did hire me.HeatherAnn Thanks this. -

you make many stops during your shift, both deliveries and pickups along the way.
companies like, R+L Carriers, SAIA, ABF, Old Dominion, and many others. some are union, some are not but the pay rates are pretty much "close" to one another.
usually very good to great pensions, health benefits, vacation times, etc, etc.
since you do local deliveries and with a lift gate, you already basically have what it takes to do that job of P&D for an LTL companyHeatherAnn Thanks this. -

I started on a 13 speed and then had problems when I switched companies and did their drive test with a 10 speed. Passed it but was grinding some gears. Shift pattern is different!

someday, if you really wanna earn LOTS more money, try an LTL company for daily P&D work. you will make 2-3-4 times what you are earning now.[/QUOTE]
yeah, no , you actually won’t. But the money is good in LTL.
