    You gotta bump up to 700 rpm then to override shutdown wait about 30 chimes then bump the pedal and should see a message saying shutdown cancelled. Sometimes it takes a few tries but that is what I figured out by experimenting.

    Man the places we gotta back into sometimes. Last stop on this hill phoenix had to back into the building through a narrow door opening and blocking traffic to do so. Thankfully a cop showed up to stop traffic. Ppl were honking at the cop, lol! Had drop trailer since was blocking the street. Two little chinese guys had a hard time with the wood blocks. Didn't have enough arse behind them to work the crowbar I let them borrow. They were surprised at how well they braced them coolers. They left all the blocks and told me they had no where to throw them out. There was a dumpster in the other doorway.....communication breakdown with the next load. I couldn't make it 162 miles by 1400 so asked what do I do. Just head that way and see if can load you.....nobody getting back to me so I finally reasoned with my DM to turn around so I didn't violate my 11 and 14 and go park at Colton. Common sense woulda said go park and head over in the morning to begin with. Broker finally called me later saying yeah it is fcfs and can prob get it tomorrow. I hate comm issues.....

    Places I have been to this week:

    * Canada
    * Long Island

    Places I have successfully escaped from this week:

    * US Customs at Lewiston
    * Long Island, but now I'm at the Vince so I dunno if it was worth it.

    Got a call from my new DM on Monday. I had delivered some computery stuff to a company in Piscataway and was waiting for my next load. "Can you go to Canada?" "Yes." "WILL you go to Canada?" "Yes."

    This was my first time to go empty into Canada and pick up a load to bring back. Usually it's the other way around.

    Naturally, on the way back, there was a problem with my paperwork. But fortunately it was resolved within the hour after calling the broker.

    After dropping that trailer in Newport News, I had a conversation with my DM about what they could give me to get me rolling. The option which presented itself was a BH delivery from Jarratt to Bethpage. However, delivery time was 11:00am and the HOS I had available didn't work out in favor of an on-time delivery.

    The empty I hooked in Newport News was missing a license plate, so I ignored my instructions to take it to Hill-Phoenix and took it back to the yard instead. It is currently festooned with a red "out-of-service" tag.

    After arriving at the yard, my DM called me and informed me that the Bethpage load was okay to deliver any time before 2:00pm. So as long as I could get it there before then, it'd be fine.

    I bobtailed down to the Davis Travel Plaza down around exit 23. Took a shower. They got nice showers. Got up at 3:45am. Was in gear by 4:00am. Twenty minute drive to Jarratt, hook the trailer, be in Bethpage by noon.

    Nobody mentioned that the road to Boar's Head Jarratt was closed.

    Had to take a long, circuitous detour that added almost an hour of time to my Bethpage ETA. And suddenly the load that was looking pretty easy was suddenly looking pretty tight.

    Grabbed the pre-load, headed northernly, and stopped at the Elkton TA for my 30.

    Phone rings. It's my DM! He wants to know why I'm running late. I begin to explain about the road closures in Jarratt and--

    Yeah, but that load delivers at 11:00! And it's 10:15 and you're 3hr 22min away!

    I pointed out that we'd had a conversation less than 24 hours ago in which he informed me I was good to deliver the load any time up until 2:00pm.

    So anyways, I got the load there before 2:00pm and they unloaded me. Which apparently wasn't expected, because the NE planners told my DM that I wouldn't be unloaded until tomorrow. And I'm like "If that's true, what's the point of me busting my hump to get it here by 2:00?"

    Lotta parking spots at the Vince when I rolled in at 5:30pm or so. Never seen it that empty before. Must be the lack of services due to the construction. Will supposedly have something getting me rolling towards Richmond in the morning.

    Trailer I'm hauling has an out-of-date inspection sticker. I mentioned this to 'em, but I bet they forget.

    Is that a temporary closure, like a flooded road, or has Jarratt followed the pueblos out west and cut themselves off from outsiders?

    I’m not going anywhere. I might take extra time off though which will help with my mood. I get it, there’s a major issue going on in the country/world the likes of which none of us have experienced. The voice of reason that I’m married to is the one that made sense out of all this. She asked me in that soft voice of hers just exactly what my problem was, that I’ll be home 4 weeks and 2 days since I left the house and will have run 16,290 miles. The best 2 pay period weeks I’ve ever had here. So, as much as I don’t like the thought of not getting that penny a mile longevity raise, my real issue was how I found out. No heads up about the decision to put on hold all raises. But, I did find out that when we clear this hurdle, the raise will come through and a check will be cut retroactive for monies owed. I can live with that. The raise was set up to go into my 401K anyway, not to put food on my table or pay bills.

    Just the one stretch of VA-139. I infer that it's under construction.

    Running local deliveries in Florida does not present enough opportunities to travel to Jersey.
